ok been thinking about buyign a big screen LCD for my system.

I have a gtx 560i amped gfx card.

so i gave it a test drive on the home 40".

screen came up really well on 1366x768 or what ever the native res was. I tried to bump it upto to 1920x1080 but came up blurry as hell. The sound came through as well. no audio cables what so every cept the hdmi cable it self.

tried out NFS hot pursuit @ 1920x1080 appeared fine. tried eve online at 1920x1080 as well it was same as desktop blurry.

only at 1366x768 was it any good.

was i doing anythign wrong or should i bite the bullet and buy a 27" screen?

I do use a TV myself for when I'm playing racing games and GTA5, the trick I found was to set the resolution of the game at 1080p before switching the TV on, that way the singal carried across to the TV.

Might just've been a Panasonic thing, or even a plasma thing, but there you have it.

I still prefer using a monitor for FPS and strategy games though.

Hm. Not entirely sure to help you on this. I forgot what resolution on my mom's laptop, but it viewed on the screen very well, especially for netflix. I have not played games on it, but try checking out the display setup as well on your pc. I'll ask my bro to bring his uber laptop when he visit. I do got a over 50 inch. Wifi TV (forgot exact size) and I have no issues with it. I'll try to get back to you when I get home from culinary class :-)

found the issue.

its because the lcd is like 2 years old and only supports 1366x768 native res.
most if nopt allthe new lcd support rtue 1080 res.

now i know that time to sort out a huge screen. even if its a 32" :)

I don't even like the 1920x1080 (aka1080i)

16:9 will always be inferior to 16:10 in my book.

When I can get a wicked 16:10 monitor/tv in larger format (currently at 24.1") without spending an arm and a leg, then I'll step up from my Sun monitor.

I can get two 37 inch lcd screens for about the same price as a 30" dell/apple monitor.

Amen bro. 1920x1200 all the way! But most "HD" TVs nowadays is just mere whateverX"1080"
