Cat and Mouse - Break Probing on Purpose

We have ECM mods on ships to affect lock times and disrupt signals for direct combat situations

Why do we not have a mod to reduce the likelihood of obtaining a 100% lock by scanning

I can scan down ships and other items pretty easily with the ship/probes/launcher/implants available to play the cat, but there is nothing but Halo/cloak to play the mouse.

New Mod - "Anomaly Noise Generator
Activate mod to disrupt probe lock or Directional scanning from ships at a greater distance than 1M km. Decrease the distance required to lock on to the target by 200k km for every skill point in Signal Analysis. Level 1 = 1 M km; Level 5 = 200k km to lock onto the target. The more skill you have the harder it is to lock your ship by probing or Dscan. Note of clarity.. this is not probe distance to target, but your ship to the target ship... I can get my probes in on top of a target, so it's got to be a little more difficult than probe distance.

I Can see this being something useful to encourage players to try lowsec more... maybe

Don't give me the argument about cloaking because this is not it. You can still narrow the area around the player, but not lock on. you kinda will know where they are, but they will see your probes as you close in on them. More mouse to all that cat you have

I can see this generating some fun being the mouse...

t3 used to be really good at this,

its still some what possible, but now you can get scanned down.
what i disliked is when you warped to a person you end up right on top of them, you really ought to warp to some bubble in 50-0km circle.

dscan is a B*&^ its hard to do what you need to do and keep clicking that button, particularly in a wh where you have no local.

the pro tip is to keep your sig size as low as possible,
and even under normal circumstances this should make it take a while longer to scan you down.

what i really dislike is you could be in a pretty hard to nail down place like mag or radar to start with, and then in 2-3 probe scans later < 45 seconds they have you locked and are jumping.

Actually, there's a way to do this already. Low sig radius + high sensor strength can make you nearly un-probable.
T3's can do it well. I think some carriers can do it well.
Any ships with decent sensor strength/sig radius/slot layout can do it.

And we have ECCM mods on ships that make you more difficult to scan down.

Actually some of those T3 fits still require max skills and virtue implants in order to scan them down, which means they are realistically unscannable in most situations (especially null sec).

Whilst I must admit I do have a virtue set, I do not use them when I'm scouting on roams. And nor does anyone else who isn't an outright idiot.

So whether or not you catch them is completely random? What? What is the point of that?

Any competent prober will not need 2-3 scans, we find you in directional. Then we warp 14au away, deploy probes, position them right on top of you and get you in one shot.

We have you scanned and our probes are being recalled inside of a few seconds, against an alert pilot this is still not enough time. Someone who is semi-afk running an ungated site, however... they die.

Seems balanced.
