How exactly is it a legit game mechanic to allow a courier package icon be changed to a plex icon when the courier package is really a bunch of shuttles? Why is there not a generic courier icon that is used?

I'm not knocking the ingenuity of the scammer, I'm knocking the fallibility of EVE here. Personally, I love the idea and would love to do it myself, but at the same time, something is wrong with this being available simply because a courier package should simply have a generic icon.

Courier packages look like little wrapped packages. Shocked

Did someone manage to use a different icon? Pics?

Ugh Courier packages do have a generic icon.

Sounds more like you've had a classic resource cache mixup (or just a gfx card on the blink).

Negative, you cannot loot the item as it is 28,000 m3 big, yet when you read the description it says 0.010 m3 big. I've been told by a few that if you setup a courier package of shuttles 28,000 m3 big and change the icon to plex, hope it drops after destroying the industrial carrying it. It has happened and surprisingly people know about this.

However, if you read the title of the window when you look at the (courier package) plex it says that it is a courier package or some such.

Once again, great ingenuity, poor setup.

The question still begs to be asked. How does one change the icon?

I want to know myself. I see a wreck and fly up and check it out. I see 30 plex inside and try and loot. I can't because I don't have enough cargo room and die quickly to a cloaked loki. Someone in local says that a courier package of shuttles with the icon of a plex is what happened. I've seen it twice now, but the second one didn't get me :).


Edit - If you saying that you think it cannot happen, I'll file a petition and get my damn ship back.

CCP doesnt see thick line betwen game exploits and scams.

IF you exploit somebody's stupidity for profit its scam, Its allowed.
IF you exploit game mechanics and game flaws to make profit its a EXPLOIT and need to be punished. People who suffer loses from named Exploits should be refunded asap.


This is so obvious exploit. Textbook one. Now im sure CCP will tell you: its a game , deal with it... or something like that.

I've seen this as well, just had no idea what it was.

I don't know what actually happens, other than the "PLEX" isn't PLEX.


My suggestion, report it to CCP via a petition... but don't expect a response anytime soon.

I think I've seen it in frarn as well, Didn't understand it at the time, but exploits aren't cool

Actually, I believe that I've seen this as well. It looked like a plex, but could not be salvaged. And show info was confusing, probably (I believe with hindsight) because I was actually looking at some sort of courier package.

Old bait, so meny pilots die to curier package caled plex, they should pay more attention, but they greedy! they want free plexes so they steal and they got agro, next they die because of greed, after they lose ship they mad and they sent petition about expolit hahah because they fail they want revnage.

If it bleed we can kill it.

Why would you want to move a plex anyway?

Sounds like the OP is describing taking a courier package, name it Plex and then self-destructing or having someone blow up your ship, then wait for people to scan your wreck and greedly steal the 'Plex' thus becoming their target. Another cheap method for lol's and killmails.

Even you cant you accept atempt of steal, you cant scope because of weight, but you initiate atempt of steal, this mean instant aggresion.

You dont see 30 plex inside you see curier package caled 30plexes and this is big diffirence (somone just rename curier packages form plastic warp to 30 plex) like change name of station containers in station, your imagination tell you OMG im rich biath! but in fact you lose ship to fake plex drop... Life is brutal and full of traps, dont wory, this happens before to meny other pilots, people want easy money and somtime they made mistakes.

If what you say is true, report it that sounds like an exploit. I have a feeling either I'm misunderstanding you or you're misunderstanding the situation.

Was thinking the volume was displayed like a can but it's not... only way to tell the volume is to right click on package and check.

Renaming a courier package "PLEX" is not the same as actually changing the Icon....

Obfuscation for the WIN on page 3...

I'm no expert at courier packages, but is it possible it gets its icon from whats inside it? in that case, maybe you can put like one plex in it, and then x number of shuttles and somehow through luck or clever placing get the contract to show the plex as its icon?

I lost a dessie to one of these, was pretty funny.

Thinking back i belive it had a plex icon, but then I was in full pikey mode so may not have been paying attention properly. Need someone to get a screenshot to be sure.

In hindsight my post should have had more psssshhhh
