Ah, a fine day for many rum based beverages...and there will be many more once this post is done. Cool

What with CCP's big push to make *MINING* all shiny and cool again, even profitable, by nerfing alloys and tweaking loot, etc., etc., etc., that makes it about the right time to dangle a shiny new toy in front of miners

I'd like to see a "HULK, Mk 2".

More blinky lights... more blast of fire shooting out the bilges... a brass pole and glass disco floor on the crew deck... swanky musak !

But otherwise... a 4th strip miner mount... more cargo space... maybe a larger drone bay (and more drone bandwidth) to carry Heavy Drones... a bit more range on asteroid scanners... and make it a T3 construct... get some more economic demand for Sleeper salvage by making this "barge" a T3 tech ship.

Afterall, you'd think that those "people" that brought New Eden big steps forward in mining like the HULK and ORCA, those crazy kids out in ORE country, must have been tinkering with Sleeper tech at some point to see what coolness it could do for mining.

CCP... run with this... you know you want to... there will be cake !

CCP has said before that they have no intentions of making a better miner than the Hulk; and they shouldn't, because it would hurt the economy. If you're still trying to figure that one out, here's a hint for you: "any ship added to the game would increase everyone's yield, not just yours".

So how about some balance:
Should have a tank halfway between a hulk and covetor
Require exhumers 5
Cost 5-700m
Tech 3 exhumer skill with a 4x multiplier, mines the same as a hulk at level 4, only more at level 5

The rivers of tears from miners that now loose 2-3x the isk, and 2 weeks of training every time they are suicide ganked will more then justify the increased yield.

No it won't. SP requirements don't work as a balancing tool. They kind of did once, when Tech 2 was proliferating, but not anymore. As for the risk, when Hulks were 500mil it didn't matter, why would it matter for a better ship? Now if you wanted a T3 barge made specifically for mining planetary rings or something, then the idea might have merit. Just looking for a mining ship that's better in every way, when really the Hulk is already a bit much, isn't a very fair request.

Edit: Oops, didn't think about the SP loss thing. I guess that kind of helps, but all that would happen is the mining alts would use the T3 barge until ganked, then switch back to the Hulk until the SP is replaced. Meanwhile the mineral markets are flooded and miners make less ISK/unit.

That's still too much tank. Give it the tank of a T1 tier1 frig and it'd be more reasonable.

Was originally going to suggest the tank of a retriever, but that seemed a bit harsh... maybe ramp price to a bil?

Add some HP to barges, indies and freighters, and then fix the activity of mining it self. The ships are mostly fine IMO, though the dance pole and musak wouldn't be unwelcome.
