That's exactly what happened in this case.

Many large scale gaming websites ran this story. Just reading the comments from those websites, it made me ashamed to be associated with eve. People all over are ignorant. They will take this story and blame eve online itself. They will consider each and every player in EvE online the same as Mittens. This is just simple truth. It's not something we can control. You can choose to ignore it, but it doesn't make anything "better". We are still looked down upon.

The bottom line is, Mittens did something that was frowned down upon by a portion of the eve community, and a tremendous amount of outside gamers who may never look at eve as a possible game in the future. This is the harm it has caused. That's the realization.

Personally, I have nothing against Mittens. I have thick skin and what was said doesn't bother me at all. I'd just like to see more players in EvE online playing the same game I do. More targets to lock. But outbursts like this constrict the number of new players we could potentially house.

YOU only loved yourself, and i think it is not helping the GAME ... heck it might even be detrimental to your own cause in goons ... now it has become detrimental to CCP didnt it ? you might as well BUY over CCP and play it all by yourselves right?

but of cos ... not if CCP shoves a probable BAN on you first ... because it belongs to CCP

so my suggestion to CCP ... is full BAN on this guy ... why would we want to have CSMs goto a fanfest ... pull out a looooong string of people they harrassed ... and suggest to blokes to have a suicidal harrassment on a suicidal guy really go n have a suicide? n it just blows my mind that there are so many blokes think its just a joke.

The actions of the Mittani is seen as Cyberbulling in some peoples eyes, and Cyberbulling is the Current buzz word of the Month.
Since the out side world of eve is used to games that are all having PVE content the Social combat in eve is horrid. CCP does not want people spreading their personal information in game for that particular. So if a Villain like the Mittani picks on something then it is picking on a lie or some role playing people will bring it out of context..

In the end the source of the problem is people providing personal information “Real or otherwise” to influence another.

Someday I will have the time to play. For now it is mining afk in High sec. In Cheap ships

My post was not an attack against an individual.

I am simply pointing out that what Mittens said is said throughout EvE Online and the gaming community will turn a blind eye. It's universally known that EvE Online is a cut throat, hardcore gaming environment not suitable for most gamers.

The point is that once you obtain a seat of power, every little thing you say or do will be criticized. The problem is, it's not criticized by just EvE Online players anymore. It's criticized by the gaming community overall. This issue has become viral and has put us in such a bad spotlight it's disgusting.

I have the same opinion as most of you. I want this to go away. But I don't want to "ignore" it because that leaves the damage done. It would be like going into 50% structure with 0% Armor and saying "That never happened, let's just sweep that under the rug". Next time you fly out of station, you're still going to have 50% structure and 0% Armor.

We have to repair this if the CSM and EvE itself are going to be taken seriously.

Then what would happen to all those Goons posting from their Alt NPC characters?

Ribbing to one side for a moment I personally believe that No alt posting should be allowed full stop on the forums.

His goof was not the slideshow, or mocking the player. His goof wasn't even asking people to harass him. His goof was mentioning the words "kill himself" in doing so.

If he had said "his name is The Wis, he has his own corp if you wish to let him know what you think about AFK Miner Bots" then we would be having this exact same discussion, because it's not about what Mittani said, it's about Mittani winning CSM7.

No one should be sending any eve mails to anyone describing their real life to anyone.
Especially information to goons to try and gain sympathy from them or any aggressor.

As a CSM representative, he must set the example, he didn't, he ashamed the entire eve community and ccp as a corporation.
