Jade, making a valid point will only have goons mock you, and the forum police delete your posts. I find it rather pathetic though that CCP has taken this long to investigate a segment thats recorded. Unless they can't find out where in the presentation he actually said these things, perhaps we should just point them out in a timeline for CCP.

I think he should be removed from his CSM position. Why? Although this is a rough game and if he did in chat channels or on ts it's one thing, but to be on a trip paid for by CCP and technically a Representative for the company and its players for fanfest. He took it way to far on a live broadcast. I wonder if it's against the law in Iceland to try to recruit people to harass someone till death?

We might find out... Not that I think any legal action will (or should) come from it. He screwed up - he should probably be banned, and thats the very extent of it.

The CSM published by CCP

Excerpt from page 20 of the linked CCP document-

CSM REPRESENTATIVE CONDUCT

any behavior or actions considered being a material breach of the eula or tos
by a Csm representative is grounds for immediate dismissal and permanent
exclusion from all pending and future participation in the council. There are no
exceptions, regardless of the infraction. representatives are not only expected to
uphold the social contract that all society members are held accountable to, but
should also set a behavior standard for everyone else to follow.

This sounds pretty clear cut to me. Unless we don't play by these rules anymore?

Policies are created to insure all players are treated fairly and equally. We can't
begin making exceptions to one without eliminating the rule altogether.

What kind of publicity will EVE receive if he or any future player does commit
suicide? The media will look back on this incident and see how the company
handeled it which could open them up for future liability.

Any player regardless of alliance affiliation needs to understand the gravity of
this situation outside of the context of Eve.

This is a situation that could end Eve.

Are we still going on about this? Are you people SO butthurt by goons/mittens that you care this much? Quit trying to white knight a dude who played the oldest online sympathy card there is and just say "We hate Goons and Mittens and we want them all gone". By this point you are doing NOTHING for the community except squealing and hoping that your agenda gets met. If you gave a care about the "cyberbully victim" then you would actually try and talk to him. Counsel him. Give him support. But instead all we get is shiptoasting ALL OVER THE FORUMS about how Mittens sucks, goons suck too, everyone but you and your BFFs should be banned.

Meta-gaming is one thing, but this is becoming obscene. Like I said, if you really care about the dude who "ZOMGZ HE MIGHT KILL HISSELF" then spend your time and energy on him. It's not just a case of been the rules, it's also a case of been morally unacceptable to keep him in any CSM position at all..

my concern is not much of real world legalities atm ... apparently the victim was not fussed to that point

i am concerned that CCP takes so long to decide and "investigate" ...

the wrong that is done is clear, whether the target is mental/depressed/divorced or not ... the intention to suggest suicide is there, the coersion (my bad spelling lol) to the crowd present is there ... drunk? i think many evidence point to the fact that it was powerpoint prepped to present the victim to the crowd (in fact multiple victims ... ) ...

he might have gotten off scott free if suicide wasnt highlighted ... but it is very clear ... he was out to demean the victims he had prepped on his slides openly at fanfest ... and particularly this person/victim ... the suicide word mentioned and suggested to other fellow players.

so i do not see anything wrong with a perma BAN on this player

Counselling the victim of bullying won't by itself help prevent future bullying.

i am also quite curious ... of those 10k who did voted ... how many are in disgust of his presentation about "the wis". i am very sure not all 10k+ people are standing together with him on that incident

Tough when you have to make adult decisions. But they have to be made. They are a company with responsibilities and they cannot be found to support cyber bullying beyond the in game versions. This stepped beyond the in game versions of grief. This was calling for a real live person to die.
