You got a year long ban for posting a picture of me in rl and you don't think Alexander Gianturco deserves to even be punished for calling on 10,000 goons to harrass a fellow player into suicide.

Thats some pretty heady stuff you are smoking there.

If an elected politician (even a politician as insignificant as a parish councillor) did what he did, then he would be called upon to resign and might end up getting the party whip withdrawn. It just so happens that he was elected to represent a consituency larger than many politicians'.

If anyone representing a company did what he did, then he would also be called upon to resign and if he didn't he may well get the sack. It just so happens that as far as the non-Eve world is concerned he represents CCP. How does it reflect on CCP when they pay the expenses of a man who publicly calls for one of their customers to be hounded to the point of suicide?

Honestly if someone is so f'd up in real life why are they playing a game?? Get off your fat arse and get some damn help!

And then if you get ganked somewhere in game definitely don't send some moron in eve the details of your RL tragedy's. If someone sent me that mail I would laugh at them for being a moron and then delete it. I have gotten my share of hate mail in my time on this character.

Much ♥ for The Mittani! It happened you dealt with it, these asshats need to quit with the hate!

Yes what sort of person is Mittens? well I guess we can only go on comments made by someone like his RL wife who posted the following comment on one of the Goon forums.

Quote:
Mittens says Jita is going to burn regardless of whether or not he successfully sticks Two Step with the chairmanship thing. (Apparently Two Step is trying to avoid it.)

If he meant there would be protests regardless of how this turns out, he's probably right... which should be highly amusing.

If he meant he was going to personally lead an effort to show just how easy it is to mess with people in Jita out of irritation at the outpouring of idiocy surrounding these events, more power to him... it's long over due.

Niether one of those reflects poorly on him in the sllightest.

Morelike it was originally supposed to be a Jita victory lap; I predict one of the following:
1. Mittens keeps the chair, people get spacemad, Jita gets scorched in a somehow more humble than before victory lap.
2. Mittens loses the chair, people still angry because he wasn't jailed, Jita gets nuked harder.
3. Mittens gets a ban, people still angry because he wasn't jailed, Jita gets hellcamped for a month.
4. Something else entirely; Jita still gets burnt to various degrees.

He can't help but reveal himself for the disgusting cyberbully he is. His disgraceful use of someone's weight as a negative slur, and his forged jabber broadcast show the depths to which he is willing to sink to promote himself above others. Clearly he has no concern for the supposed "suicidal" space victim and only sees a chance to s**t on a poor defenceless larper's real life.

I'm sure all the raging pubbies will join you in condemning this behaviour as totally hypocritical and counterproductive.

As something of a larper myself I think Alexander brings even that honourable past-time into disrepute with his recent behaviour and in his case the council of dark-elves should probably be informed.

Alex Gianturco clearly made an error of judgement by speaking in such a manner whilst inebriated.

To what extent his apology for that mistake is genuine and sincere is extremely difficult to judge not least (and there is not a little irony here) because his 'persona' is typically one of "mocking sincerity". The question then is whether he should be given the benefit of doubt?

Equally CCP will need to consider if the negative PR his actions have generated are such that to continue to allow Alex to act as a representative of both the player base and CCP Games products would be damaging. The association with another major company (SONY) will of course accrue additional embarrassment to CCP.

This unfortunate series of events is not entirely Alex Gianturco's fault, CCP allowed the presentation to occur and have encouraged and fostered its FanFest events to be seen as drunken revels and the antics of its players as somehow 'cool'.

Ultimately though Alex Gianturco accepted the kudos and esteem of being the chair of the CSM and, regardless of how relevant we may see that collection of players, he also accepted the responsibility of that position. Personally I don't doubt that Alex Gianturco is genuinely remorseful of his actions and I have some sympathy with his plight having made numerous errors of judgement whilst under the influence of too much alcohol.

That said he should now demonstrate a greater degree of moral courage by accepting his mistake and offer his resignation - a service which would offer CCP games a resolution to a difficult issue and also a service to EVE Online and its wider player base.

'The Mittani' might say he owes those who didnt vote for him nothing: what Alex Gianturco has to say on the matter will be more revealing.

Apparently he has already tried resigning the chair position, but is having trouble finding anyone worth a damn willing to take it from him under the circumstances.

I'm not calling for Alexander Gianturco's resignation as CSM chair for him hurling a few insults about. He's been doing that quite happily through his first term after all. I am calling for his resignation because he used the stage at fanfest as a bully-pulpit to call for the organized harrassment towards suicide of an eve player while serving as chair of the CSM.

I realize you can't resist trying to score some sideswipes Rodj but I consider this is a grown up game and we can engage in the hurley-burley of forum debate without our nannies like you complaining about rough language being used. You'll notice i'm not in the habit of running for the mods when I'm debating issues.

On the contrary, British politicians have had to resign from the Cabinet or Shadow Cabinet in the past because they were only accused of wrong-doing. Recent examples include Iain Duncan Smith, Chris Huhne and Peter Mandelson.

Charles Kennedy even had to resign as Lib Dem leader because he liked the odd drink!

It's true that they often return at a later date, but that's normally after a subsequent election. I'd be quite happy to see Mittens return to the CSM if the electorate demands it next time.

Generally they are not the main villians though (though Peter Mandelson was a complete moron, was glad to see the back of him.)

I mean all you have to look at is the current 'New of the world' scandal. Yes Andy Coulson resigned but it is heading towards a total whitewash, wouldn't be surprised if, one or two years, he is back in the fore-front again.

Most hilarious part of The Mittani's apology: Where he claims he's a roleplayer.

Quote:
It's one thing to play a villain in an online roleplaying game - when I post on these forums or on twitter, I usually do so as 'The Mittani', and do my level best to convince everyone that I'm an unrepentant space villain, as that kind of facade provides an in-game advantage to me and my alliance.

So he's a roleplayer now? And not only in game, but he's roleplaying on the forums too? Oh wait and Twitter as well. ROFL! Anyone who has seen him and other goons continuously mock roleplayers in general snorted milk out their nose when they read that part. Even if they weren't drinking milk at the time.

Can anyone name other Eve players who also roleplay on Twitter?

Apparently Mittani doesn't think it's a big deal, and CCP doesn't care either. So there's nothing stopping anyone from rallying thousands to try and make Mittani kill himself. The important thing is that you just try to get him to kill himself, it's only bad if he actually does kill himself, so you want to stop short of that.

You goons were right all along. We were overreacting. That sort of thing is the coolest, and completely victimless. I understand that now.

I'm going to have to remind you that all of this only holds water if you believe that his statement was a serious request to drive a man to suicide, instead of a bad drunken joke (in the same vein as the entire presentation that came before) about giving an idiot a hard time.

If we went back over all of the statements and posts that you have made through the years and picked out all of the quips, jabs and amusing insults that we would find there... and spun them out of context to appear as if you were deadly serious in stating them... I don't think you'd like how you ended up looking.

Something for you to consider, lest the camera ever catch you inadvertantly letting slip with something that could be twisted to make you look like a psycho. I'm pretty sure you know just how easily that can happen.
