Personal opinion, a fair bit. He still knows more about the game than most anybody else in eve. Still represents one of the largest mobile nullsec alliances around with the most diverse activity. I doubt he will get the VIP access however. He will still forum, mail with CSM and regardless of antics, his opinions still will hold weight.

and because of that he can make drunk death threats? that he can de-value another persons life? what if he gets really drunk next fanfest and does some real mischief to a real person physically?

no way i will take that, PERMA ban for him !

Didn't support him, I answered a question. The EULA has rules for the situation, ccp would have guidelines for punishment, and that is what will happen. Permaban, quite a possibility, but would that actually be beneficial for eve over a term ban?

To quote Lfod Shi

The ratting itself is PvE. Getting away with it is PvP.

Who the **** are you kidding? Have you read the comments on other forums? Everyone is laughing at Eve.

Everyone is laughing at EVE because of how ridiculous you up tight prudes are making this small thing into some overblown news story. Every game has griefers and this was just one small example of it. They aren't laughing at the game or the players or why we play or the culture of the game! The culture of the game and the culture of the pvp is no different then 12 year olds screaming and cussing on MW3 on Xbox Live! They are laughing because some uptight high sec pubbies who have never experienced pvp in an mmo game obviously are having some massive problem with something that goes on daily in this game and hundreds of others! It was a hilarious alliance panel from start to finish. The audience was laughing at Mittens as was the CCP moderators the panel itself and the CSM members in the crowd. We laughed because its something that happens all too often and each time its a little varied and different and another great story. Even the guy who was at the center of it The Wis doesnt even care and laughed about it.

You few high sec prudes need to get over yourself and you people on your alts who are doing this just to see mittens go down in flames are nothing but hypocrites as you know you have done the same crap multiple times.

Please return when you've graduated to full paragraphs, or highschool, whichever. Ugh

How much laughing will he be doing when he is turned down for a job in the real world because of this? I am not saying he will be by the way.

In the current world with so much internet usage companies hiring people into responsible positions, and even universities on high demand courses, are no longer just investigating the back ground of people through the old ways, criminal record checks, credit checks references etc. They are now also searching the web for the prospective employees social networking sites, youtube channels and what ever these link to. They then use this to help them make a decisions to employ someone.

People have been turned down for jobs because they have posted pics of themselves at a night out were they are rat arsed beyond belief and mooning their friends who take the picture, this includes pics on linked friends profiles if it is not on theirs if they are the one in the pics. This is a tad more serious than that and so may have more long reaching effects than either he or his friends might think.

In this day and age you have to think carefully before posting anything like this or doing it infront of a camera drunk or not.

Some universeties are now even thinking of or have brought in rules that behaviour off the campus is still actionable by them even during the holidays. Such behaviour could therefore in theory also result in someone being thrown off the course they are on.

Just because people are posting with NPC corp characters does not make them alts, nor their opinions worthless, just like you they have the right to express their opinion, you have the right to ignore it, but trying to belittle them is more telling about you as a person than it is about them.

TLDR;

While acting as a representative of a corporation or organisation, you must abide by the very rules and regulations of such, no less follow the laws of the respective country they reside within.

No corporation can or will condone an employee or contractee promoting "death by proxy", not even as a joke.
This is a very serious matter, and opens up for huge liabilities.

Thats all there is to it. Thats what it boils down to, one misplaced sentence in the heat of the battle, with rocket fuel flowing freely. Everything else is irrelevant. Alcohol consumption will never work as an excuse. "Sorry, judge, I was so drunk I shot the guy in the face, I have no idea why"

Obviously, I don't fancy Mittens nor the Goons very much, and I certainly didn't want him as a chairman of the CSM. But regardless, I would not be a part of a lynchmob witch-hunting Mittens if I had even the slightest of doubts. I am not a Goon, I will not lower myself to their level to make sure Mittens leaves office.

Maybe I would not have been as eager to argue about it, if it was my own candidate. But I am sure, if he had done the same, we'd have an even worse shitstorm on these forums, demanding his imminent demise.

As for Mittens, the person, I have no problems with him. We all do stupid sh*t while drunk. However, as a spokesperson for CCP/CSM, he'll need to start over again, at least from where I'm sitting...

Cheers

So was it tasteless, sure... but look at the damage that was actually done: none.

So basicly, what your saying, people can say whatever they like, as long as it doesn't actually cause any physical damage? So i could get all my mates to try to get you to hang yourself, and as long as you don't actually do it, thats fine?

What about if we are all calling you the "n" word cause we know you're black? That fine too?

How about we all laugh at the fact someone's got no legs, and encourage them to push themselves in a pool? Oh, thats ok though, he didn't actually do what we suggested, so thats fine too!

What you say has consequences, be it physical or psychological. If he was messaging these things in game, i'd be like, Meh! Thats Mittani, everyone knows he's a ****, just ignore him.

Doing it live on the internet, in person, and trying to get others to follow suit, makes it a whole different ball-game! No surprise at-all its exploded this big. Don't you guys watch politics in the real-world?

And im still amazed that Goons are STILL defending his actions, even when he's admitted he's at fault.

Oh, yeah, i forgot. They already know his apology was a Fake!

i think what you said should be reposted on all other forums n multiple times so people get an idea of the real problem ...

Just a drop in a very large ocean of threads.

To say nothing of the complete waste of posting and finger movement energy that should have got the vast majority of the people on this forum to resign and/or get them banned.

Seriously, if you honestly cared enough about this player, you should have spent the last year since the incident coaching him and convincing him to seek medical help. Good job caring only when it is popular to do so. I hope whichever internet girl friend you have is truly impressed over your sudden concern for someone who is so terribly mentally handicapped as to contemplate suicide over an effing video game! I am serious. Pat yourself on the back. You win the internet by caring only because it was mentioned in a drunk fueled power point presentation. :golfclap:

I care not what happens to The Mittani. There is a much bigger issue here in my opinion. I'm certain you realize this and yet you choose to deflect and make this really about something its not. Some may be politically motivated however there are those among us who happen to see this affair as merely a symptom of a larger more disconcerting issue. Its the issue of a world cyber and otherwise unfettered by any code of moral decency where this action is applauded as some sort of standard of behavior.

In a meritocratic game like EVE you stand to benefit from the misfortune of others. This is a core property of the game and one in which I find uniquely appealing and all to rare in modern society. In order to truly win someone has to lose. However only a individual lacking in self control, and self respect would act as the Mittani did and perceive a benefit from it.

Now you have to defend your guy, I get that, but all I would ask is that you take a good look at what you're defending before you make the statement that nobody got hurt.

The fact of the matter is, positive outcome aside, someone could have been. Just becuase I drive home from the bar drunk and manage to not kill anyone doesn't mean what I did was somehow less wrong becuase nobody got hurt.

The apology was a good start, but like The Mittani even mentioned actions are in fact greater than words. What I want to see is what he intends to do next. In my mind he brought attention to a serious issue in a flippant, arrogant, and insensitive way. I'd like to see him make amends for that. A simple I'm sorry and a little ISK is not action as far as I'm concerned.

Furthermore, even though I did not vote for the guy I do respect what he and the rest of CMS6 achieved for the betterment of the game. Its a shame that this had to happen and that its likely his influence within CCP has been voided by a few words. CCP has to and will protect its interests in this matter. To be frank some of the blame falls on CCP for having a Panel Session in which grand arrogant gestures are encouraged and the speakers are provided alcohol. It was only a matter of time before someone said something stupid. That by no means absolves The Mittani, but the set up did him no favors. When you appeal to the lowest common denominator that is likely what you will get.

You seem to misunderstand. I don't know, nor do I care personally about the player. However if I had received an e-mail in which a player admits to suicidal thoughts the absolute last thing I would consider doing is to include it into a Presentation I intended to give at Fanfest and then openly suggest people greif the guy! Especially if I was the CEO of Goonswarm and the Chairman of the CSM.

Some things you just don't do.
