The difference, however, is that Mittens professed to know, used the knowledge as the basis for an attack, and encouraged others to join said attack, at a panel, at a CCP-run media event

That's not the standard I expect from a person I elected to represent the player community in this game.

And before you carry on trying to defend Mittens, go back and re-read his apology. He seems to know he called this one wrong. All I'm saying is that his response to the wrong call is not sufficient. I think he needs to resign, not just apologise.


I read his apology, but that doesn't mean what he thinks is the hive mind to what the members of GS thinks. After all, we aren't CSM, so we are allowed to think what is best for us, in this case, defending us from the nefarious witch hunters who demand his resignation.

I think it's gone beyond "The Mittani" "CSM" and "OH my god eve is so real, we have a CSM leader saying something and whats going to happen to the heat sink prices?"
It's stepped into the real world now and so is beyond the bubble.

If you want to give his appology any credebility then why are you working so darn hard to devaluate his appology?





If u notice the only people coming to his defence are goons and friends the majority of eve think that this time he has stepped to far . He has always walked a tight line sometimes but this time just 1 step to far . The fact that he has not stepped down already shows the he does not really care. If He himself does not want to promote this kind of stuff once again he should have stepped down oh wait he has not .

No, plenty of sensible people have stepped forward to defend him. You "one step too far" idiots sound like you haven't even seen the video, you're just very easily shocked people trying to kick up a fuss because you have nothing better to do.

There's all this raging indignation on both sides, and still people are talking about what is a fairly straightforward thing. I won't express my opinion or condemn any single argument. I'll just point out the things that don't make much sense to me.

Only so much can be said about a topic that is so simple. Mittens got drunk, said something at an optional panel that happened to be broadcast on Eve TV for it's entertainment value. He was not calling on the harassment of a real person or an E-mail address that a real person would use to handle all of their day to day activities. His eve persona was under attack (beyond optional), which is nothing new for Eve players. Mittens is not the only person to harrass someone to the point of quitting eve - even if he might be the most public.

These are the facts. No one else has been chastized by CCP or entities outside of Eve for these kinds of grief tactics. Indeed, the Guiding Hand scheme was a large magnet to bring people to Eve. It was not decried by the populace at large. It was praised as a testament to the open sandbox nature of Eve and drew in far more people than would have left as the numbers have clearly shown over the years (from the new marketing guy's presentation).

This all being said, the more fodder you give to the troll, the more power (influence) he will have as that is what Eve is all about at the end of the day. No party is doing anything to damage the reputation of Mittens, and in fact, everyone talking about it is giving him exactly what one party doesn't want him to have (more influence). If you want to kill trolls, the only weapon that works (aside from killing their corporal form) is apathy. Show them that you don't care (by not discussing it) and you will do more damage to said troll and his supporters than a permanent ban from devs or an arrest from law enforcement ever could.

so what you are saying if a friend of yours was feeling depressed and somebody else encouraged people to make that person actually go ahead and top himself and he did then you would be ok with that . I am sure u would not .

While I agree with the main part of the post I am commenting on the quoted.

Yes they can. What someone sees as something worth appologising for is personal. I have appologised for behaviour where I have had friends saying it is nothing to appologise for.

You also have to factor in instinctive behaviour. Generally when backed into a corner you come out fighting. They were backed into a corner and went on the defensive. After saying for so long it is nothing to appologise for they can't then do an about face, some people think it would show weakness and some are even raise to believe appologising is a weakness.

All in all regardless of their personal aoppinion he has appologised and what they say really has no effect on the "value" or lak there of of that appology. It is only as meaningful as the person making it means it to be.


Real adults know when to admit they are wrong. Are we surprised by the goons not getting it?

He has not moved on, he said despite the apology and isk he thinks what was done is wrong and he is not sure whether to accept the apology as he is still upset right now.
