The Mittani got 10,058 votes. He's Chairman For Life.

Yet his life expectancy is about as long as CCP take to prepare the press release

That means 49,000 people voted AGAINST Mittens.

~49,000~

Can't argue with that, that's math

I did not vote against mittens, I voted for Seleene.

I think that most of you that are pro Mittani are missing the major point here.

This COULD be a huge issue for CCP. There are US congress people looking for any reason to shut down or regulate the video game industry. Things like this just add fuel to their fire.

You do understand that the USA could simply ban CCP from selling EVE in America correct? You do understand that is something that is not out of the realm of possiblilities if one of these anti-video game people pick this up and run with it. Cyber - Bulling is a huge issue here in the states. I disagree as I think bullying is just human nature but that is not the point.

I think you idiots need to understand how much of an issue this could really be. This is much more then some simple comment made by an idiot. This could be the issue that starts the ball rolling for the anit video game people.

I do not think it will get that big but that is the issue here. Not so much how stupid the comment was, or how wrong it is to try and push someone over the edge and kill themselves but the fact that this is the kind of ammo these anti video game people are waiting for.

What would you idiot goons do if the USA ban's EVE in the USA? How much crying would there be?

This is the worst case but it could happen and their are people waiting for just these kind of things to happen, so they can grab and run around saying "I told you so, I told you video games are evil."

Again, the comments mittens made have been said tens of thousands of times before all across EVE, these forums, and the many other EVE related sites. What he said is nothing new or special. Yet you pick this one event to bounce off the walls at.

Perhaps trying to wear me out?

It was said at the FanFest, not in local chat. Furthermore, he ordered his Goons to attack the guy. If even ten start harassing him that is a lot of harassment. And THOUSANDS of people saw him be mocked. THOUSANDS.

Perhaps little Timmy needs an explanation as to the difference between your boss calling you an idiot in a private meeting with the door closed and nobody else around and him calling you an idiot in front of all your co-workers in the weekly meeting?

Does little Timmy need me to explain the difference? Or maybe it is bed-time for him and he is just a little to sleepy to think clearly?

If someone says they are suicidal over something, it does not in fact mean that is the only bad thing that has every happened to them in their entire lives. This should be obvious, but you are a clever idiot arguing with absolute bad faith, so I would expect to have to say it, and many other things obvious to a five year old, when talking to you.

Hey that forum is banned here, if Screegs catches you linking things from it, you'll wake up with a banned message that says "You know what you did".

Welcome to the real world, where security is your responsibility, you feelings don't matter and you're just a statistic on some spreadsheet. God people loosen up and stop crying over something that really doesn't matter. The guy isn't going to kill himself over people on a video game, and if he does that's called Darwinism...

I'm pretty sure the US government has more important things on its mind right now than video games, I hear theres an upcoming election they all seemed to be focused on right now.

America could try banning the sale of Eve online to American citizens, it probably wouldn't manage it in practice though.

Mittani always claims to be darn intelligent.
Yet realising when you place yourself on a pedestal your words will be weight with more scrutiny never arose to him.

Just like Chribba, Darkness and several other well known personalities in EVE his word holds weight.
Well atleast to a certain crowd.
Next to that he is chair of CSM 6 and now CSM 7 so that's another spotlight.

You may not abuse, harass or threaten another player or authorized representative of CCP, including customer service personnel and volunteers. This includes, but is not limited to: petitioning with false information in an attempt to gain from it or have someone else suffer from it; sending excessive e-mails, EVE-mails or petitions; obstructing CCP Employees from doing their jobs; refusal to follow the instructions of a CCP Employee; or implying favoritism by a CCP Employee.

Don't know howmany braincells you have, but I can clearly see someone else suffering from is by being called out by name and called out to be harassed.

You may not use “role-playing” as an excuse to violate these rules. While EVE Online is a persistent world, fantasy role-playing game, the claim of role-playing is not an acceptable defense for anti-social behavior. Role-playing is encouraged, but not at the expense of other player. You may not create or participate in a corporation or group that habitually violates this policy.

This doesn't only hold true for roleplayers but also for those who are drunk and violate those rules.
Being drunk isn't an excuse.

You may not do anything that interferes with the ability of other EVE Online subscribers to enjoy the game or web site in accordance with its rules. This includes, but is not limited to, making inappropriate use of any public channels within the game and/or intentionally creating excessive latency (lag) by dumping cargo containers, corpses or other items in the game world.

Ingame mail is publicly available, by calling out to abuse this to harass someone can be classified under this rule.

You will not encourage others to break these rules or any rules set forth in relation to EVE Online’s game service or web site.

By calling others out to harass this player he actually invokes others to break the none harassement rule. So he encourages others to break a rule.

These are just a few things I want to bring forward. It doesn't matter if that player was or wasn't suicidal. The mere idea he might be should have stopped Mittens from doing what he did.
