This is far past eve play. This is trying to basically lead to a real death of a real human being for his own personal amusement. What he did would be considered a serious crime in many countries if that person really did take their life after this.

He best pray to whatever gods he does or does not believe in that this person doesn't die any time soon, or he will have serious legal problems on his hands.

Do you understand what cyber-bullying laws entail, including the punishments that come along with them? You don't seem to understand that in the real world there are consequences for your actions, and those consequences can sometimes include legal action.


Precisely this. I've dealt with depression for around 15 years now, but I've dealt with it myself. The player claiming that he was going to commit suicide shouldn't have done that, it's not for people in a video game to deal with his problems, or people on any of the depression/anxiety sites that are out there, they need to speak to a health care professional.

When my depression became difficult to deal with a couple of years ago I took some time out from the game, played much more casually than I did before that and do now. That's the advice that Mittani should have given at Fan Fest, step away from the game for a while, have a break and sort your problems out instead of taking the game so seriously, not broadcast the communication he had with him and offer his contact details for others to compound any problem there may have been, real or made up.

Whether that player was really depressed or not is irrelevant now, the actions taken my Mittani are there for all to see, and not just by EVE players. As is often said, your actions have consequences, we shall see what they are.

Using his own words, he needs to ~deal with it~

WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place...

I can imagine a context in which it would be. Considering that the players have been trying to get CCP to do something about botting for a long time, if the CSM became aware of CCP allowing botting somewhere...or making a game change to make botting easier...etc...yeah. It'd probably get them sued, but I can see a case for whistleblowing there and that could involve telling people how to take advantage of the problem.

Off topic, but disturbing none the less, this actually popped up in congress a couple months ago. They want US law to apply anywhere on Earth. For example if you break a US law in another country, then ever enter/reenter the US, they want to be able to charge you for it, regardless of legality where the act was committed.
