So let me get this straight. An Eve playing douche bag full of internet machismo is unable to distinguish the line between a game and reality, and says some really stupid stuff in the heat of the moment. Internet machismo guy is then unable to backtrack lest look weak in front of his equally ridiculous peers, so does the courageous thing by playing it up as 'nothing special'. Cue hordes of sycophants trying their level-best to defend said douche bag's actions using astonishing idiocy as their reasoning tool.

Why am i not surprised?

I have the feeling public attention over this will force CCP's hand and we won't see Mittani in CSM for much longer. That, or CCP actually want another enormous public relations disaster on their hands.

More or less. They still dont see how freaking serious this is and that it went too far.

Instead of apologizing like he should have mittens decided to dig a deeper hole on this issue.

Dude, mittens, you are wrong in this. Very wrong.

I understand it perfectly well, you pathetic sockpuppet idiot. Fat lazy pubbies are mad that Mittani got in again, with the BIGGEST MANDATE IN CSM HISTORY and will do anything, anything to try and deflect from that.

I suggest you deal with it, but the carebear crowd has shown time and again that they just can't.

But hey, remember:

EVERYTHING BURNS.

Why the **** is there 32 pages of this? Why do you people care so much about what happened at what is essentially just a massive party?

Everyone calling for The Mittani to resign or be kicked off the CSM need to take a massive chill pill and get on with their lives.

Repeat for every whiners convenience:

If the suicidal character feels that he/she has been harassed, he/she should file a petition to CCP.

This is nothing what we should be doing for him in these forums. We do not know anything about the individual and this all could turn out to be hoax. People have rights but it is not other man's work to try and enforce them. If this guy wants something, let him decide about his own actions and stop being silly drama queens

If the important game media gets hold of this ,they won,t cover a great fanfest but something else

^ this. The media won't go for how awesome the future vision of Eve is, they go for the guy who called for a guy's suicide.

Precisely. Media and other trolls that dislike EVE will go for this like sharks following a blood trail.

No matter that this is an isolated case and that there's a whole plethora of other theme-park MMOs where worse things have happened.

Things like player going undercover, gaining ranks in rival corp and ransacking said corp's wallet and assets is one thing and goes hand in hand with blockbuster movies where the hero gets the girls and/or hits jackpot at the end (aka happyend). Guy taking it out on other players in real life and encouraging cyber-bullying, not so much.

Wrong again, because by playing EVE you accepted the following, BINDING LEGAL AGREEMENT:

"CCP has established Rules of Conduct (discussed below) for players accessing the System and may, but is not obligated to, monitor and take action regarding inappropriate conduct. Nonetheless, it is possible that at any time there may be language or other material accessible on or through the System that you may consider inappropriate for children or that may be offensive to some users of any age. You acknowledge that other players may transmit communications or content, or access to content, that you may consider inappropriate or objectionable. CCP does not, as a matter of policy, prescreen the communications or content transmitted by each player and is in no way responsible for the communications and content transmitted by players of the Game. "

bolded and underlined for your convenience.

but then again wouldnt this part of the rules and guidelines come into effect,

whether through private in-Game messaging, during chat, or in chat rooms. CCP representatives may monitor communications made by or received from you. You should not provide private information to any other player in the Game. CCP shall not be responsible for the consequences of any such disclosure by you.

Ok, so lets recap:

* Mittani gets in with the biggest Mandate in CSM history. (Deal with it.)
* The pubbies **** themselves in impotant rage. The Meme about "Goons only voting for Mittani" won't work cause he has 4000 more votes than there are Goons in the game, so obviously the morons will need something else...
* Some made up controversy about Mittani mocking some botting reject hits the airwaves
* ... That'll work: "ZOMG GOONIES ARE BAD! BAD BAD BAD!!"

Protip: If you say "I'm going to kill myself," it means you're not going to kill yourself, you're trolling for attention. People who do commit suicide do not engage in bilateral communication immediately beforehand. Doing so is a sign of attention whoring, not suicide.

What we had is some fat afk botting pubbie running, what, 22 bots at once? And Goons announced they would kill him, and then killed him (which he didn't notice cause he was afk botting), which is a good thing -- because bots are literally killing EVE. Upon getting his ass gently placed upon his head like a hat by the Goons, he tried to rant and guilttrip them as best he could.

All of what you have posted is fine.

The problem is that as soon as the The Mittani stood up whilst being film at an official CCP Event, mocked and humiliated a person who possibly could been suicidal and then encourage others to do the same, the **** was always going to hit the fan.

When CCP, their Partners and Investor's are seeing headlines like

"CCP launches investigation after Eve Online FanFest panel accused of mocking suicidal player" - eurogamer.net

"Eve Online Panel Encourages Harassing Suicidal Player" - The Escapist

"CCP investigation into 'suicidal player jokes'" - Developer

"CCP investigates player panel that encouraged cyber-bullying" - Massively

Then then it becomes an issue outside of Eve Online.

What he does in game is fine, spying, ganking, invasions and generally pissing off everybody else etc; are all accepted game play and a major part of the meta game and tbh I love reading about Goons and others antics in game. As has been pointed out the in game shenanigans make for really good press and free advertising.

Pulling the same tricks in a public forum ,(fanfest, not the hell hole that is these forums, here it's just meta gaming and shitposting), takes it to a whole new level and in my eyes is borderline unacceptable, bullying in game is normal, doing it irl is socially unacceptable & bad taste, theoretically if real consequences were to occur, mittens could be hip deep in crap.

I ain't defending, I ain't condemning, but what seems to be funny when you're shitfaced isn't always funny a week later when it bites you in the arse.

Depression isn't something to be laughed at, I used to find it amusing, I've since been through it, it's not

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Hoax or not, this is a precedent setting moment.

Even if it was a hoax the implication of wanting to push a living person to their death is freaking sick and mental and evil. Almost as bad as defending and being a apologist for such actions is.

Exactly, CCP are not responsible, so why should they care?

Give it a few days, the forum crusaders will have gotten bored, and no one will care about this whole issue.

Totally irrelevant now.

When your product is getting headlines like

"CCP investigates player panel that encouraged cyber-bullying"

that is bad no matter how you swing it

Actually it makes CCP look responsible, since they are launching an investigation into it.

Frankly, whether the panel members look respectable or not is a bit silly considering they were drunk out of their minds and busily mocking anyone and everyone not in their respective alliances.

The panel wasn't there to look respectable, to represent anyone but their own groups of players, or worry about the emotional state of anyone else.

They were there to look like they were having fun at Fanfest and to show how their alliances had fun in game.

Mission accomplished.

You do realise the part you underlined refers to the communications and content transmitted by players of the Game, yet in this case it was transmitted by CCP on an official Eve TV live stream not some random rantings on a player youtube video.

This is an absolute disaster for CCP and EVE Online. Why would I play a game where players will try and craft my death in real ******* life? This is way beyond a game. I'm not forking money for this kind of abuse.
