I suggest you watch the youtube tape again. Are computer graphics really that good? Cause it doesn't really seem to be happening in the game at all.

Ok, so lets recap:

* Mittani gets in with the biggest Mandate in CSM history. (Deal with it.)
* The pubbies **** themselves in impotant rage. The Meme about "Goons only voting for Mittani" won't work cause he has 4000 more votes than there are Goons in the game, so obviously the morons will need something else...
* Some made up controversy about Mittani mocking some botting reject hits the airwaves
* ... That'll work: "ZOMG GOONIES ARE BAD! BAD BAD BAD!!"

Protip: If you say "I'm going to kill myself," it means you're not going to kill yourself, you're trolling for attention. People who do commit suicide do not engage in bilateral communication immediately beforehand. Doing so is a sign of attention whoring, not suicide.

What we had is some fat afk botting pubbie running, what, 22 bots at once? And Goons announced they would kill him, and then killed him (which he didn't notice cause he was afk botting), which is a good thing -- because bots are literally killing EVE. Upon getting his ass gently placed upon his head like a hat by the Goons, he tried to rant and guilttrip them as best he could.

It's an open PVP sandbox game. Deal with it.


I can't wait to see the bitching that's going to come around the start of May when our victory lap starts. You pubbies are going to **** yourselves.

What if I was mining, got ganked, was mocked in local and went out immediatly and hung myself? Every time a gank happens, this could potentially happen. Are you saying every ganker was an evil jerk who was trying to get people to kill themselves? Of course not. This is yet another example of players mocking a carebear who, as far as they can reasonably tell, is not suicidal. This happens on an hourly basis, if not more often.

Because no one who is genuinely suicidal plays a computer game, and says 'oh, Im depressed, and suicidal'. Not if they are genuinely suicidal. This guy was just playing the sympathy card, and therefore worthy of being mocked.

You are failing to distinguish a number of distinct elements in the causal nexus and thus embarrassing yourself somewhat by combining such failures with calls for logic.

a) It is not your responsibility if someone is suicidal. - Correct

b) Invoking a request to harrass someone is against the EULA. - Correct.

Now, on to the most important of the relevant points that you fail to consider:

c) How you interact with someone who is suicidal IS your responsibility. - Correct.

d) Consequences following from your chosen course of interaction are partly your responsibility. -Correct.

e) Invoking a request to harass someone who has self-identified as suicidal and whom you are unable to rule out as suicidal may lead to serious consequences for that person. - Correct.

f) Therefore, you will be partly responsible for any consequences that might follow from said call to harass. - Correct

Now, I could go on from there but it will be easier to leave the emphasis on this point: your actions have consequences and you don't get to disavow responsibility simply because your actions interact with some pre-existing conditions. ALL actions interact with pre-existing conditions.

Nor do you get to disavow responsibility on the grounds that 'I wasn't sure' because if you weren't sure then you gambled with the other person's well-being. Claiming that you only have a responsibility to avoid certain actions if you are 100% sure that something bad will happen is the biggest pile of horseshit I have ever heard. Just try running a few thought-experiments on that one will you, and see how they come out. It's better that you work through these basic exercises yourself rather than have your hand held as then the lesson will really stick.
