Is this really 16 pages of A BLOO BLOO about some rando high sec pubbie blogging about his miserable irl life in an evemail to a rando stranger?

If CCP wanted to feel accountable for their actions they should have pre-screened the alliance presentations. There were no guidelines on them. I can tell you all to go kill yourselves just like you can tell me to go **** myself. It's the game we play in the environment we play it in. If CCP has an issue with it, they should change the rules of the game. Harassment isn't allowed, but much like anything else harassment is subjective.

I will agree to CCP applying consequences for this behavior, IF, CCP can provide us with a button in our client that will display the mental history of the player who is complaining of suicidal thoughts.

In addition to this, each player will have to agree to a revised EULA which will clearly state that if you threaten suicide in game, the GMs will call an ambulance, at your expense, to take you to the nearest ER for psychological observation.

Also, if you refuse treatment and fail to commit suicide, you will be permabanned for feigning mental illness.

IMO, it's a bit overblown, but still enough in poor taste to warrant an apology since it came from the CSM chairman. =/

The real question I have is, why did it take so long for people to be so angry about it? This happened on Thursday, why did it take until Monday before people actually started caring?

It's like people have some sort of alterior motive against GOONSWARM FEDERATION, for who knows what reason.

How about, instead, we all just agree not to try to push others in to commiting suicide? The whole case presented here has nothing to do with whether or not the person is suicidal, its the fact that a player has been caught trying to encourage others to push that person to commiting suicide...

Seriously ,what is so hard to understand about that?

If the CSM guy truly meant what he said it's clear he doesn't have any concept of a basic moral standard and he has ABSOLUTLY no place to represent anyone about anything. Maybe not even himself since you almost have to suffer from some mental or social disorder.

If it was meant as a continuation on a "funny" thing that happened to cross his path and he wanted to share the moment as a joke. Then arguably he has some really bad taste... really bad. That tied together with timing it on an event like that when in a position like that. It's clear the guy needs some education in PR.
If this wasn't CSM he would have gotten his ass fired instantly, a lawsuit would have ensued. Complete and utter political suicide (no reference).

In short, this rare breed of moron made a bad booboo.

Then on the other hand. Proving somebody is mentally unstable through online messaging in games or in general is very difficult. On a basis alone, just not enough to make such a diagnose. In fact anything can push these people of the edge. A movie, song, a look, financial problems or just a badly pored cup of coffee in the morning. There is no way a layman like mittani could know if it was serious or not and expecting him to is unrealistic as well.

Should he be removed from CSM then?... Yes he should. He brought some very bad publicity towards CCP, EVE, CSM and its player base. CCP taking cover behind the EULA and TOS by making a few quotations is not enough in my opinion. Mittani needs to make a formal apology and resign. His integrity as a member of CSM is now at best questionable. He screwed up and now he's finished. Suicide isn't a laughing matter nor or the circumstances leading to one. If he doesn't want to resign CCP should do the right thing and boot his ass. Let it be known such behavior is not tolerated or supported.

And not sure if it's already being done. But CCP, make new CSM members do a PR training. It would help prevent such things from happening in the future.

The biggest obstacle you'll encounter doing anything is yourself.

It actually is very illegal to harass someone with the intent of them committing suicide. But you're still playing dumb, which is seemingly very easy for you.

Pedestrians are supposed to only use crosswalks, yet when they do not they are still protected. Similar to how people shouldn't say they're depressed or considering suicide to strangers, but are still protected from abuse from those strangers.

The fact that so many Goons are unaware of self restraint is kind of scary. Just because someone makes themselves vulnerable doesn't mean you have to attack, ya bunch of sociopaths.

Because since the alliance panel Mittens won the CSM chair again and then we killed three titans.
