I also got this error. A link to the manual download page is provided by the installer when it fails.

You have to download the Executable, Payload 1, and Payload 2 and put them all in the same folder, then run the executable. The folder you put these 3 things in does not have to be the folder you intend to install EVE to (and probably, CANNOT be the same folder).



Did that, and that's what's failing. Had it in a different location folder, and all files in the same one.


You clearly did not do that if you are being told it couldn't download the payload.

The offline installer checks the folder it resides in for thw two payload files. If they are there, it WILL see them.

I'm sorry if you feel there's a legitimate reason for botting but there isn't and that's basically that. Not liking a game doesn't entitle you to cheat. Ever. At all. Enough with the moral equivalency please. ~CCP Sreegs

Unlike others I had no issues getting the new launcher and getting online to play, but I dont get to play for long. After about ten to twenty minutes or so of play either the game crashes my graphics card display function or gives me a blue screen of death.

I am running XP sp3
GeForce Go 7900 GS

Yes my system is older, but the game played just fine on Monday

Anyone having difficulty with missions?

Where you would normally right click on the Location to warp to the mission - it acts as if my ship is not in the correct system.

Options when you right click now on the Objective Location:

Show Info
Add Waypoint
Save Location ...
Show on Map
Show in Mapbrowser (Solar System)
Avoid "system that the mission is in" (Solar System)

This is killing my standings .. since I quit missions to see if this is fixed :)

Windows 7 64 bit -
Installer worked fine...

Yes the ship I'm in can run the mission...

Resolved - new 'feature'. The only way to warp to missions now is to click in space and find the mission warp there.

I have to reboot at this stage.

Running the repair.exe tool does NOT work either: it freezes up at (3/7), and i again lose all network connection. Rebooting is the only way out.

I run a solid dual core win XP (sp3), with a very recent NVIDIA geforce graphics card. RAM a-plenty.



This seems to have been resolved, and the launcher window is now properly displayed after running the (bigger) patch.

At about 15% download in the launcher window, it freezes. I lose all network connections, and the only way out is terminating the launcher. Network connection is restored after this. Re-running the launcher just gets the same results.

Yesterday: Launcher and Eve.exe both demand they don't work on 64 bit windows. ExeFile.exe gets me in game fine, albeit not until late evening after I've done 5 hours of solution research (reading forums, trial and error).

Today: Launcher now runs but loops forever trying to do some update.

CCP, it is time now for you to:

1 Retract the launcher deployment until you get it right. Without our help. That's what we pay you for.
2 Give everybody 2 days game time (and counting)
3 Fire whoever said this was ready to launch.
4 Stop launching **** when it's not ready.

Edit: Win7 64, launcher 1.09, not that it's my ___king job to work in your QA department. Now that I realize I'm working for your company for free as a troubleshooter because you're too lazy/incompetent to test, I want 3 days.

Steam Overlay doesnt work when launching game through steam.

I have added EVE online and the launcher through steam and the overlay refuses to work now, when i press the Shift+tab key.
Only goes around selecting stuff in the chat window inside of EVE which is just a wierd function anyhow being bound to a keyset.

This is my problem, as well. Any answer would be nice.

Edit: More specifically, it loops at "Creating_Eve_Online_349998-350962.patch". It goes up to 25% and then back to 0 and is stuck on this loop.

Ok i did exactly as stated in post 2 and it works :) just one ajustment. when you do the process mentioned, at the end of repair ti will still say error, but dosent matter close the reapir and try starting launcher again. It worked for me :)

A significant amount of user headache could of been bypassd if functionaing patches had been assembled as alternatives.


Re-installing from scratch produces the same result: the game crashes before I even get to a log in screen. The game itself is broken outright, it would seem. Win 7 64 bit.

I'm glad I set a long skill. Something tells me I shoudl of set an even longer one. >.<;

world sound level is not reducing when zooming out. when disabling and enabling the sound the world sound is gone completely ( (no wormhole "humming" etc. but i can hear the wormhole activation). when i jump through a wormhole i get the same phenomena as after login. not reducing the level to zero anymore.

i also think it is the world sound one can hear at k-space gates (sounds like distant radio transmissions or something) a bit fail in wormhole space i would guess. Evil

UPDATE: Running back through the complete assortment of Admin and compatibility modes on the fresh install caused the client to begin functioning when set to Compatibility of Windows XP SP2 with Admin enabled. An option that did NOT work prior to reinstalling from scratch.

You guys have a QA staff, right? Where do I apply? - clearly they need the help.

Did not work for me.
I even downloaded the manual install files and re-installed Eve. Still did not work.
It keeps looping between the new Launcher, openeing EvE and re-installing new Launcher....

I'm getting the same issue. And the launcher works fine, but when I get onto the game screen it says "Client needs to update". Update runs... At 4/7 I get an error:

Error creating shortcut: C:\Users\JustPeachy\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\StartMenu

When I try launching again it loops back into "Client needs to update".

28 pages of complaints and this still isn't fixed?

This update is a total mess even if you can get in the game let alone being one of the many thousands who can't.

Rollback the server to Crucible 1.4 please. I'm asking yet again. Please. You need to do more testing of this update and get it fixed before re-releasing it.

Ok, so I'm back. I'm having the same problem I was having yesterday, stuck in an updating loop.

I've spent the last 4 or 5 hours racking my brain trying to solve this but I've now come up empty handed on solutions. My launcher at first would not update to v1.09. It kept looping me back into v1.05. So I found the launcher here int he last few posts and installed v1.09. Well, now that I've done that, its still looping and It kept reverting to v1.05. I assumed its because the client itself was causing a patch reversion. Well, without starting up the client, I had a friend send me the 349998 to 350962 .patch file and attempted to import the patch to my client with the launcher. All the launcher does is create a file named '349998-349998.patch' in the eve directory, and when I open the client its still stuck in the patching loop. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the launcher multiple times as well as ran repair.exe several times, which only serves to revert my launcher back to v1.05. I've deleted all the cache data several times, tried moving things around, etc. My client will not update. I'm beginning to grow desperate so some suggestions would be appreciated.

I can't open the launcher at all at this phase. Anytime I open it I receive the following:

"Eve Online Error" with two buttons "Open Console" and "Terminate"

The launcher generally works fine on my Mac, but refuses to update past version 1.04. Would love to know why that is. Tried restarting, didn't help.

Just ran the installer on my laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium x64, patched first time and loaded up so I am at least in game now.

This further adds to my belief it is a particular issue with Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
