Classic QA team failure.

Sometimes one wonders if you send all your incompetent workers to the QA team instead of promptly firing them, because it's been the same **** for 8 years now. As someone said above, sound issues have been repeatedly reported on SiSi and the invisible gate activation effect bug would have been as easy to avoid as jumping a *uckin'* gate when testing the game.

Just speechless as usual.

85% Positive:
- awesome patch/mini expansion with plenty of fine tweaks and additions. Thank you and plenty of respect to all involved.

1% Neutral:
- 1 parrot for some issues with launcher and inability to use it to patch multiple clients at once.

5% Negative:
- More name changes which I didn't want to see.

9% Supernegative:
- Boot to the head for still not willing/being able to fix the neocom nerf and all the annoyances with it. No cake for you.

Get classic forum style - custom videos to captains quarters screen

Thanks for the response.

Window is just 'Errors occured, see [log file's path] for details'

Although it's a fresh install (yesterdays build), so my problem is probably more to do with how the launcher connects than with any corrupted files. I was just running the repair because it was suggested for slightly -similar problems in here.

Edit:-Not related to AV, as some issues apparently are.

When I have to install an update with the launcher it says it is unable to while I have iTunes and Open Office running. Is there a reason why these programs can't be open while patching but other programs are fine?

Does the update specifically mention those applications, or did you do trial and error to find out what to close before it continued? I'm interested to know if either iTunes or Open Office would be indexing the client for some reason.

My situation is different because update worked fine for me (Win 7 64 bit). But your question reminded me of one detail: update refuses to continue if EveMon is running. Is that intentional? Surely EveMon can't lock any files from Eve client?

Did you determine it was EveMon by trial and error or did the updater mention EveMon specifically?

Installer mentioned EVEMon.exe quite specifically.

Indeed EVEMon has no interaction with the EVE installation. I updated my EVE clients while EVEMon was running.
Ofcourse I have my EVEMon installed outside the EVE client installation folder.

We merely check whether or not a process is running from the EVE client folder Smile.

You must check something else as well, since in my case Eve client is in C:\Games\Eve and EveMon is in C:\Games\EveMon.

I didn't delve into it, but when I start the launcher and there is an update available, it ask for permission for privilege escalation, since it needs to patch stuff in locations it otherwise can't. So far, so good.

Once the patching is finished, they launcher presents the play button however instead of closing. There seems to be no privilege revocation? This is of course on a windows 7 console, so I do not have my accustomed toolset to find this out, so I might very likely be wrong. But it looks like a step back to the 1990s security model.

Question, why the hell do people have multiple clients to patch? Why not just the one client and open it multiple times? This method works just fine for me, and as a result have - would you believe it - just one client to patch, not including Sisi. It's not rocket science is it?

The Gaming MoD - retro to modern, console to MMO, I blog about it if it's a game and I'm interested in it. Yes, I play games other than Eve and I don't care if you think I'm wrong.

It asks me specifically to close those applications. Maybe I'll uninstall Open Office and iTunes as they are much faster to reinstall than EVE. Although I didn't think it would matter since they are in separate folders.

Wow...love the changes. You guys did leave out one AWESOME change from the patch notes.
Upon creating manufacturing jobs, when selecting the installation it now remembers the "Range" filter.
Before you had to change it every time to "solar system" if you wanted to use the POS... THANK YOU, this small change has made a huge difference in making the process less annoying!
+1

EDIT: Also the entire UI seems a lot faster, snappier and smoother! :)

Thank you :CCP: for wiping all of my settings again. I appreciate the opportunity to have to re-do all 29273 shortcuts, windows and dialog boxes that I had set up just like I wanted before the "patch". Seriously guys, will you EVER test you crap before you release it? This is not the first time all the options got wiped.

If you're on win7, 64 bit,
Check if CCP has made a new folder in your %appdata%\Local\CCP\Eve

If so, do this:

Browse to
%appdata%\Local \CCP\EVE\c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility

Copy the folder named "settings" from here into this folder and overwrite:

%appdata%\Local \CCP\EVE\c_progra~2_ccp_eve_tranquility

Credits go to Miss President
Although according to a CCP post it should have already been fixed, but it never hurts to check.

Edit: I would link Miss Presidents' evegate profile and the CCP post, but it seems the boards don't like to parse the url tag.

I'm sorry, but I've read the patch notes carefully 3 times and I still can't find the bit in the patch notes where it says warping a cloaked ship inside a POS force field will now decloak the ship. It didn't used to, but with this patch it now does.

Please can we have our cloaked ships inside POS forcefields back.

I'd like to say something nice about the new launcher, unfortunately I can't, at least not for the Mac version I normally use. Simply because there the new build won't start properly. (13" MacBook Pro, i5, 4GB, Intel graphics, Lion 10.7.3)

Actually I don't even see the starting screen of the launcher, instead I get a "exception" pop-up delivering a dumb (euphemism!) message about checking internet connection and restarting launcher. Internet runs and restart gives same error. What can I do?

I'm posting this here because no CCP official (apart from Spitfire's starting post) has bothered to show up in the Mac issues thread. Seems like a lack of interest to me.

Hey! We are the ones paying you, not the other way round! The least you could do was showing respect for your customers.

For the records: I'm using a windows machine as backup, launcher runs OK there, settings (after having found them) prevent pre-start screen. No problems so far.
