Ubuntu Linux user here, Wine 1.4:

Launcher worked and installed the patch. when I click play I get a Runtime error in ExeFile.exe "abnormal program termination".

And before "linux unsupported" yada yada.... it was working fine last night... and for the last 4 years with this setup.

Hi Me again.. sorry to be a bother.. Lucky for me I used Mac time machine and restored my pre-patch intall to as it was before the launcher installer screwed it up.

Did what you said, and downloaded the launcher installer manually . Ran it, and after about 10 seconds it went red with a "task not responding" in Mac Activity Monitor.

Then noticed that my mac was downloading something at full bandwidth, when the only thing running is the "launcher installer" which was still "task not responding". Bandwidth usage dropped to zero and suddenly the launcher was running and patching my client ?!

Question/Statement: Even though the launcher installer is 17.2mb for Mac it still seems to download something when it installs?

PS. Writing this on my knees, because I am praying that the new launcher that is still busy patching does not screw up my EVE installation.

Update: Praise be! Launcher patched my client just fine and all works fine. Fellow mac users... When the launcher initially installs, it wil look like it has crashed... Dont quit the process... It is actually downloading something, and will finish installing once done. I confirmed by restoring from time machine back to before the patch twice.

Does running the Repair Tools help with this?

It could happen that a new settings folder was created under
%localappdata%\CCP\EVE

You could try to go in there and copy your old settings into the new folder which should fix this problem.

* market quickbar items and folders are longer sorted alphabetically so now it is all a jumbled mess

* saved searches in assets windows are erases

is there anyway to turn off the funky new colors are the market sell orders? I don't particularly care for them, look like an eyesore to me

Gets to 2.7% of upload and gives me a long list of errors and says client update was unsuccessful

Do i get a discount from the $15 i pay per month for this game? May i get pro rata back please for time lost.

Windows 7. Very very slow update, but was success.

With first my internet connection launcher don't run. I receive exception:

i am running windows 7 enterprise 64bit and get this when starting eve after it failed to patch

so i run repair.exe and get this

Ok so I've tried unsuccessfully to resolve these issues but after an hour of trying I have given up.

Upon the installation of the patch I am greeted with an error message, logged below, which suggests I run "repair.exe". Running this however also throws up an error message, also logged below. The entire problem seems to centre around the Launcher.exe which doesn't install properly. The error message given seems to imply it isn't compatible with a 64bit os although trying to run it in compatibility mode does no good.

I then saw a response to this which suggested using " --buildno=344784" as the target for repair.exe, so shortcut made and this added. This managed to run the repair tool without throwing up any errors however launcher.exe still doesn't load and trying to repatch eve still doesn't work.

I am also having difficulties in downloading the full client which adds to my frustration; my area of the world has always struggled with patches, my 50mb connection being granted less than 100kb/s on most occasions, and I generally have to rely on others (usually Chribba) to provide a service CCP really ought to be provided, which is a reasonable download speed.

If possible can you do the simple thing of providing some kind of installation file just for this launcher.exe? Or a patch, or something which I can just download and overwrite to get it to work?

My OS is Windows 7 x64.


This is even more ridiculous - I can't even put the error logs in this page without this forum seeing it as HTML and throwing up an error. I can provide 3 error logs if you're interested. Please, please, please, can you sort this out? Look at how many users are online and realise just how many people are struggling. We just want to play the game, we don't care about your launcher; it's a game about spaceships not a game where the players spend all day debugging clients.

tring to use eve online launcher v.1.05 ( which is crap by the way) on OS windows 7.
Game played fine for 4 months (without launcher. during intall of patch 2/3 gets to 4.7% then displays 'exception' windows with a load of stuff i don't understand nore can i post in forum (says no html? even tho its not).
please what can i do
with test servers these things shouldn't happen for games you pay for...
loosing out on my paid for play time here X

i've tried clearing cache and repair tool which failed aslo

Ok, launched my client as usual. Started up, downlaoded the update, installed the launcher. The launcher did its thing, claimed to update my client. Cool. Clicked play. Client launched as normal the login screen. However, the client thinks its still running the previous version. Ok, maybe I missed something, launched the old patcher again, which relaunched the launcher, which in turn does nothing. It still says the client is up to date. Tried launching again. I'm stuck in one giant loop of redownloading the launcher and the launcher claiming my client is up to date. Other than being stuck in a loop up redowloading the launcher patch, everything is running normally. No crashes, no dumps, etc.

I tried running the repair tool, but the same thing keeps happening.

I'm on a very low bandwidth connection so I can't redownload the client installer and start fresh. OS is Windows 7 x64.

First you make this game incredibly dull to play without multiple accounts and with every patch you guys forget to make patching multiple clients automatic without multiple downloads.

At least make my alts online easy to use pls. I don't need immersion and fancy module names like scourge missile or skills.

Does this also happen if you go into your EVE directory and just start eve.exe directly? If so, then your shortcut file might be messed up and I'd suggest deleting it and recreating it.

OK CCP, what is the purpose of this forum thread,

I am not a computer genious nor do i have tons of knowledge on how to fix problems you keep adding to the game everytime you update a patch.

I have expressed the issues and why i am unable to update either of my clients. What now? Do i just get ignored like the other 5000 people struggling to log in ?

What do we do now? I have tried the repair tool and it has now just stopped working completely.

What should i do now with the two downloaded Eve files i cannot run which i use for all my characters.

I use Windows 7 64bit OS and thats all i know. I dont know how to fix this, i dont know what to do and it seems like there are many more like me. What are you going to do to repair this? Are you going to give me some sort of link to a repair that doesnt work as all the reapairs i have tried, have failed and still i sit here after two hours frustrated to hell and gone and still unable to even get my accounts to launch.

What now CCP? What should i try now to fix your mistake ?

Repair.exe downloaded, copied to game folder and run, claims to have repaired the client.

The repair still hasn't fixed the original runtime error incurred by the new patch however.

Any further suggetsions?

Have you tried restarting the launcher? If that does not work, I suggest running the repair tool.
