Well, no, that's not really it. It's not about ethics and "the internet", it's about ethics and Eve.

You're assigning an ethical value to a normal facet of gameplay.

If you sat down to play Monopoly and pulled the "Bank Error In Your Favor" card, would you return the $200 to the bank because you've been undeservedly enriched by the bank's error, and it would be unethical for you to keep it?

Yes and yes but I dont play Monopoly. In my way to many years on this earth I have learned 1 thing ethics are ethics be it in real life or a board game etc. You either have them or you dont and IMHO there are more and more on this planet that are severely lacking them. They feel just because they're not a real person on the net, there is no reason to follow any standard moral code.

But now we're drifting way off subject from the original topic.

I feel like you're misunderstanding something about the nature of analogies.

Do you refuse to shoot NPCs? Killing is generally regarded as fairly unethical. Sure, you might be defending yourself in some cases, but you probably didn't HAVE to warp into that pirate anomaly or take that security mission, right?

I mean hell, even these Rogue Swarm drones are likely sentient. I haven't seen them out and about bothering anyone, they're just chilling in their little pocket, not bothering anyone at all and then you roll in and start blowing the place to bits, and for what? A shot at a cheap palette swap and some performance enhancing drugs? And then you want to draw the line at picking up the resulting goods when someone else did a slightly better job at the whole drone-murder thing?

These NPCs are evil, so our actions are justified. Cool

There's probably a stronger case that the empires are evil (especially Amarr) than for most of the pirate factions.

DAY 3

Now it’s possible to run these drone sites by Alpha Clones and other low skilled capsuleers. Compared to the first day, huh, it’s much easy now.

You can get a Destroyer lvl 3 or a Cruiser lvl 1-2. With DPS between 90-150 you have enough time to clear the site before somebody will invade your site. Just stay away from the tract. Try Amarrian regions (Genesis, Domain, Tash-Murkon, Devoid), because I heard the Caldari remain very contesting (especially The Forge). The Minmatar regions remain enough “intensive” with rng free spots. A frigate can do the job, but it must be well pumped. Anyway, a BS boss you’ll not crack probably, so don’t waste time on him. BTW, from the BS bosses I got the worst loot in Hi-Sec (no boosters). The best loot was from a cruiser: 1 PLEX, 1 Rifter SKIN and a Booster.

Interesting, who got a drone BPC and what kind?

Keep going…

I like the contested sites.

This old bitter vet loves swooping in, in the middle, or at the end, of one of these swarms.

Hey, the prize is only for the one who wins it.

I ran a few Guardians and won 31/33 contests. Just about all of them had all types of ships plucking away, pitiful.

This Rogue Swarm is turning out even easier. Of the 6 sites I entered, there were anywhere from 3-5 others. I won 6 times.

(this reply is to fire some of you people up)

I come in with my Golem, 3 Sensor boosters, 2 MGC, and a TP. I one shoot everything. When the boss appears, he's mine. I can target him in about 3 s. Hey, it aint bragging if you can do it. After he's mine, I put a tractor on him and reel him in.

Some guy in a frigate (really a frigate in one of these swarms?), tried to run down and steal the wreck on the tractor beam. I should have let him take it, and as he did I'd pop him before he could escape. (got a warp disrupter too just for that)

Only way to beat this Golem is to bring something that has some alpha. Oh sure, a destroyer can clear a site, if he's the only one there.

You have to set your ship up to target fast, deliver the damage, and take the prize.

Now it would be fun, if a couple of other Golems or equal ships and I, were all to get into one of these swarms, at the same time. Then it would be a real contest. If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch.

-Kirst

PS Maybe I'll kill the boss, and then turn the wreck blue. I wonder how long it will take for anyone to notice. ( oh, now he's just rubbing it in our face.)

Always remember Tovil-Toba, and what was done there.

That is like the opposite of what I am using. Try the Thorax. The Thorax is the perfect T1 Cruiser for this event as it sports the two Boni that are best for the Drone Nests. Tracking speed to hit them and damage bonus for higher chances with the pot shots. And get a Sensor booster! Even if you fly uncontested sites it will help a lot. And webs for better aplication.

TL,dr: Blaster+Web+Sensor Booster = kill Drones faster.

Consider it a sport in which the goal is to shoot that final spawn. If you can't do it alone team up, the game offers you this option. Also, don't expect to win each time.

When it comes about isk everyone becomes suddenly ethical. Remember it is only a game. Perhaps the world is a bad place because people asociate only financial profit with ethics?

This in not a troll. Its my general impression of the game event as a relatively new player. So enlighten us as to what those solutions might be? Im curious how you would go about handling the situation as a new omega clone in a gnosis? I myself have no problem handling the swarm alone, the problem is the crusty old timers coming in and taking away the prize. I personally have a set of ethic's that prevent me from 'stealing' the prize from another player. So like I said why dont you enlighten us new players so that we may gain some insight?

Except the prize is not yours or others.
Everyone can participate in this event, because this event is public, available to everyone.
You can't steal something that is public, game decides who did most dps and that person wins the prize, simple as that.

This whole event is not only yours to take the prize, it's for everyone, not just alphas or not just for omegas.

You can kill the whole site, but someone else will get the loot, because it's the last cruiser that matters, and that person who gets the cruiser is not stealing from you, but he won the prize, not you.

Somebody still dispute that the Rogue Swarm event is fair and competitive.

It's an event not worth the bother of flying to a nearby waypoint, even...if you spent a few seconds clearing the rounds of pre-attacks, players warp in on the boss and kill steal-then take the reward. Endlessly.

Completely not worth bothering since you're just doing the work for nothing. Pretty boring.

I'm a new player and I spent the better part of an hour chipping away at drones and losing ships/refitting new ships to go back only to have someone in a better ship swoop in and one shot everything. I do feel kind of left out. Maybe someone will let me sniff their goodies.

June 27 at 11:00 UTC is the end of the event. You have 2 days to get something.

The Accelerator expires on June 29 at 23:59:59 UTC (the whole week). After June 27, you can buy boosters from the market. In some regions they cost 10-15m ISK currently.

Just fly away from the tract and main region systems. I noticed many uncontested Drone Nests in borderlands systems yesterday, while near main systems they wasn’t. Try Amarr regions. For example, I did exploration in the Molden Heath yesterday. There is a deep “green” system Katteguad where I noticed like 12 Rogue Swarm Nests in an empty system. There are many other systems closer to Imperial lands. Compared to the first two days it’s very easy now.

The Rogue Swarm Nests works like Combat Anomalies and Signatures (including WH) – if you’ll close it in this system another one will automatically appear in a RNG system of Constellation or Region. So, if many of them will be closed in main systems, through statistical RNG distribution more and more of them will stack at some inactive systems.
