Hi all,

I'm new here and just want to say that eve is the game i've been waiting all my life to play (as a kid I grew up playing and loving damocles and elite)....and thankyou CCP because i'm tight and if you hadn't made it free i might never have started playing :) After having had the experience i'll gladly subscribe now though.

Anyway, i've finished the agent missions and have moved onto the SOE story arc. I can see missions getting tiresome though so am thinking of joining a corp. The thing is i only really have maybe 10 hours a week most to play the game (i'm advancing in years and have a family etc....) and can also only really play at work when i'm skiving ! This also means that mic. use is out of the question !

I would imagine this probably rules me out of the more serious corps. I need something really laid back and quite open to newcomers as i'm not only new to eve, but also to MOM more generally. I'm kind of interested in everything but definitely want to learn and try out some pvp. I'm not really interested in eveuni as they sound a little bit up their own backsides :) I'm also quite happy figuring stuff out for myself.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

RVB is the first one that comes to mind. They usually go in frigs and cruisers, almost always something going on and while they don't advertise them selves as a teaching organization as long as you are polite there are many people there willing to assist you.

The no mic can make things harder but often being able to listen is the key unless your planning to become a FC.
For time constraints, don't worry as this is pretty common as many eve players are older and have to try to juggle real life,family, work and spaceships as well Lol

Just be aware of those that say there is no requirement on time online but you have to participate in X number of fleets or get so and so many kills every month.

Thanks a lot ! Yes most signs are pointing in the RVB direction. I'll get through some of these missions and give it a bash. It doesn't suprise me that there are many older players here......Eve seems like a perfect escape from family/work.....for a little bit at least :)

EVE Hunt is also a very useful website in terms of finding which PVP corps are best.

Since it uses killmails, it can show what timezone (USTZ, EUTZ etc) a corp has most kills in (and by this indicate when it's most active).

It can show you what ships they mostly use, and it can also show you what a typical average size fleet is (which is probably much more accurate for smaller corps).

So comparing a lowsec corp,
http://eve-hunt.net/hunt/Caldari%20Colonial%20Defense%20Ministry - This one shows it's mostly USTZ, uses more cruisers than the one below.
http://eve-hunt.net/hunt/SQUIDS@2E - This one shows more EUTZ, and appears to focus on using T1 frigates much more and smaller fleets.

Then look at and compare two different nullsec corporations. Many differences in playstyle.
