Alternatively, you can simply relate the real world to the game by imposing this rules:

1) For every 1hr delay, you are going to reimburse the players for 10k skill points.
2) For every 1hr delay, you are going to deduct your "IT specialists" annual bonus (if they do have, poor CCP employees) by a fraction of total CCP's loss in terms on USD due to compensation.


I can assure you from there onward, there will never be any delay in any major/minor/**** patch day.

If you do not have intend of publicly listing your company, you can continue to ignore the above rules. You are CCP anyway, 2hrs for a major extension is already a "huge-ole-milestone" compare to years ago.
