Are you telling me I'll be sat in a station until I get another 48.7 million sp.

How long is that going to take?

With my rough estimate that would be around another 2.7 years.

"Competitive in 0.0," absent some kind of context is really meaningless.

But I appreciate you two crybabies not taking up server load by logging in while still funding CCP for making a game i enjoy actually playing.

Well I'm not crying about it, although it is amusing that you think I am.

Actually that spew you came out with is pretty meaningless.

You would have been much more helpful if you had said something like well you don't actually need 50 million you need such and such.

But no you just thought you would troll instead Roll

Edit:

But anyway this is The 50,000,000 Skillpoint club thread so I suggest we don't end up completely derailing it.

Implicit in the "meaningless," comment was that 50mil sp is not necessary to do... anything really. I have capital ship characters with less sp than that.

I saw your name in the thread stats and thought you had news about making 50 mil. Was about to feel really old.

According to my EveMon skill setup, I should hit the 50m mark on 04/17/2016. So not too far away :)

I'm curious as to how you derived that from Evemon. I can only see where it lists my current skillpoint amount and time duration of skills training. Care to enlighten a newbie?

I too had problems finding this a couple months ago, so allow me to pay it forward:

In EveMon, call up one of your plan queues. Once you are looking at a plan queue, over on the far right toward the top, you will see a small icon leading to a drop-down menu. (If you hover over the icon, it will say preferences.)

(To find the icon, first look at 'Choose Implant Set') and then look alllll the way across at that exact height to see the drop-down.)

In the drop-down, choose 'Custom Settings'. Then make sure 'Earliest End' is selected. (Along with any other columns you are interested in.)

Hope this helps!

EDIT: If you haven't discovered this already, you can drag-and-drop column headings to re-arrange the order of the columns.

lol

If you've a problem with the stat, take it up with CCP's Dr. E and the quarterly economic report of a few years back where in CCP officially acknowledges the pivotal 50m SP value. Pirate

In any case, how's Doomheim treating you Zoei?

I played for a long time 2011 to 2012 and re-subscribed a month ago to find I was already in the 50 million SP club. I lost interest back in 2013, but I was on the six-month subscription, then I miss-calculated the re-billing date. I decided that I might as well keep up with the skill plan anyway, trained some ship skills to Lv5 in 2013. Might actually use them this time around.

The 200 million SP thread is a weird bunch. I say that because at 50 million SP things start getting good, you max out a couple ships, and you know your way around EVE. By 100 million you've felt some stagnation and beyond that, definitely by 150 million, you're in an SP deadzone.

I know because I have some characters like that, though I didn't grow them myself. At 100 million SP I'm already questioning my life choices. If I'm around to see my characters reach 200 million SP organically... five years from now... I can't imagine what will be going through my head.

is not!

I agree that around 50mil everything should feel pretty good, as yea you have a bunch of options. But to max out I think 50mil would work well for specialized characters that can manage a few roles. but my 113mil lowest SP "main" still has some pretty big gaps still, and I went to jump in a ship with my 146mil sp second character, that didn't fit because I didn't have the specific rigging skill trained to 4. I got away with around a mil or two sp in drones for a long time and I just looked and my one character is nearly maxed out and has 10mil sp in drones, excluding fighters, fighter bombers, and drone specs to 5. That said when you start lv5ing stuff the SP goes up by so much. that and there are many ships where that SP just doesn't count for anything.

I'm just shy of 170 and a lot of what I'm doing now is just for the sake of completeness (jury rigging 5 in the queue!). I mean I don't even do explo, and I'm doing everything in scanning to 5 right now (I do have an alt that already did that). Probably do a remap and max out drones next, then go back to spaceship command stuff, or leadership. I didn't realize the huge bonus the t2 siege mod (maybe didn't even realize it was in game?) gave so I didn't finish off that skill, also didn't get around to doing the minmatar dread skills, as I think it was before that rebalance. Yea most of that stuff is just extra stuff I might not even use, but if the time comes and I can do something with it then that is something I would miss out on if I was the type to just stop training and start training alts either for use or for sale.

Quickly looking at the char bazaar there are tons of characters in the 50mil SP ballpark plus or minus a bit. and 150+ is certainly starting to drag my next big goal is getting that shiny golden 'V' next to the paladin, although given the way the mastery system works I'll check off a ton of stuff before that, and probably the rest at the same time because so much stuff wants you to have the drone specs to 5. Yet I still have almost no SP in leadership. And then there is the sub caps vs caps bit. I started training into caps super early, although it took me a few years to ever inject capital ships/amarr carrier. I had a paladin pretty early, and that was pretty much the same skill path as a dread at the time.

Probably around 80 mil I stopped caring what I was training, unless something new had come out. I think that is about when I said screw it and started doing gunspecs to 5. all t2 guns (~15m), drones (7-8mil), most of the missiles (8-10mil), pretty much every t2 ship (30mil?), not much more to do. I think that was about 80mil. not sure how many go into the core/support skills, I'd guess about 20mil for a solid foundation.

I remember in the past every time I went to look at similar SP characters to mine on the forums I always felt like they were missing something. These days probably less of an issue, but I haven't really looked too hard either :p
