I still play with the Gecko, I use one with my Rattle Snake and once I have bought a Thanatos again I'll have 20 in the drone bay!

Because Gecko's were a present, not a permanent item. So use other drones if you can't afford them.

Should I point out the whole "limited supply" part, or are you one of those, "it should be my way 'cause I said so," types? There are other drones, too, btw in case you hadn't noticed.

Reminds me of when they first came out and CCP redid drones and left the Geckos with the same stats, people bitched up and down even when it was brought to their attention that Geckos were released with post-rebalance stats in mind -- before the drone rebalance, they were pretty OP'd and were and are still strong even after. They didn't want to hear it, though, because all the other drones were mostly receiving buffs while Geckos remained largely unaltered.

Best get use to it, they will continue to climb in price as their numbers continue to decline and dwindle.

I knew buying a pile of Geckos on release was a wise investment.

@OP: Are you seriously surprised a limited release item's value would go up dramatically as the existing ones were destroyed?

I use gecko all the time in my mission ships and lost one in maybe 3 years (and that was a Rattlesnake gecko and lost through stupidity). I have at least 10 or 20 spare maybe more.

I do not PvP with them.

One issue if people are losing them might be people trying to use Gecko to make up for poor drone skills - bad plan.

However I suspect the main issue with them getting up in price is they will eventually count as "bling" and make you gank worthy.

Why can't you play with them?

If you look at them as a drone and not as potential ISK, then it's easy to welp them.

In a Rattler they turn into mini-HACs. You can basically put the Gecko on aggressive, load FoF missiles in the rattler, set the rattler to close orbit the gecko and go make coffee. Just do not do it in a SoE hub with 'nado gangs about.

I've managed to collect 30-40 of these buggers off of Ishtar kills. Who knows how many I've blown up.

Holding on to your stock of Geckos as an investment can be risky though. Just ask people who invested heavily in Geno implants. Blink

Theyre becoming the Harvester mining drones of the pvp world. Boy were those things fun to trade in back in the day. Its not surprising to me really.

Whee, so buying all of those Geckos when they were 10m and keeping them is actually going to be worth it. I thought it was going to take a lot longer ^^

I've got a thousand of them too... bought at a price from 10-20mio.

The problem is just: they are getting too expensive to actually use. I really liked them, they are much better all in all than heavies
