Are they mad!?!?!?!? No wonder they need a daily downtime. They really do need to reboot their servers every day. Dayum.

I seriously thought everyone was sensible enough to at least put there servers on a solid OS (some form of UNIX) but apparently I was wrong...

No wonder they can't roll back. They might need to reinstall their OSs to fix this. Did microsoft issue one of their "unstoppable" patches yesterday?


i run game servers on windows 2008 r2 and have 0 issues. Runs for weeks without restarts. Your Microsoftphobia is a bit misplaced i think.


Ahh, see, you run for "weeks" without restarts.

I consider running for *years* without restarts to be minimum competency.

Ever heard of "five nines of uptime"? That's the target, not mere weeks.

Here's a thought for those saying 'Use the backup/rollback'. They probably already did and it didn't fix it. This is where the support staff really start to earn there ISK.

As for SLA's I doubt there is a specific time listed in which any and all problems will be fixed as that is simply impossible to guarantee. They did however tell us of the problem within an hour and that is much better than ,any companies would do.

Oh great ... come back from holiday and no eve.... i've been cold turkey for all these time and now more waiting .. i was hopping to get on line before i have to get back to work ... this is so fustrating that i pay for a game that i can't use.. i understand there can be issues but i thought that was the point of the test server ... test it on the test server before it screws up tranquility server....

Sometimes things blow up in such a way that you can't just roll back. You've got to fight your way through and fix it.

Maintaining a perfect 100% hot-swap backup of the Eve cluster is economically unfeasible. I really couldn't imagine the logistics required to hold a full copy of the Eve cluster in a near-constant duplicate state....and I really wouldn't want to pay the sub fee for that. Things start getting pricey when you start getting over three 9's of service guarantee in a complex system.


I work with an electronic medical record system for an ER for my day job, and even THAT isn't 100% hot-swappable in backup.
