The "New Map" Feature everyone so swiftly disabled is soon going to be the choice we have for scanning, anyone have thoughts or ideas to improve it before it's released and we start the complaints thread?

Yes.

Change the colour of selected probes so its easier to tell when you're dragging them.
Change the colour of highlighted probes spheres so its easier to see when they're selected. Make them easier to select also.

Remove stargate and jump lines by default when in probe map view.

Force celestial markers to maintain their true position when moving probes over or near them.

That's my list of major pain points. Pale blue is not a good colour to usr for highlighting a white object due to physiological reasons with our eyes. Bright green would be a much more effective colour.

make the arrows around the focal point 3 dimentional then its easier to select them and easier to see in which plane you're dragging the box at present...

Basically all the things that have been suggested multiple times in the already existing numerous feedback threads? Roll³

Beyond that: Why is this completely useless piece of garbage still in the game and why is CCP still wasting dev time on this piece of garbage? It was not usable in the past, is not usable now and it will not be usable in the future because CCP pushes for completely wrong goals with the map. And CCP ignores feedback.

Make the new map graphically identical to the old map, just in a window?!

Add a D-scan cone.

The concept was really cool, the overall function is lacking.
Can't zoom all the way in to fine tune the probes anymore, can't zoom without lag and a perpetual shaking of the camera, the circle for a mouse pointer I terrible and often fails to grab what I want, I am always having to focus on my ship every time I jump into a new system.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

You know, lots of people are totally incapable to use a map. It's nothing to be ashamed of. But you being unable to use it does not mean other people encounter the same problem. Plenty people are using it just fine and are happy with it.

What you do is ranting, it is not feedback, nor is it constructive. And it's against the rules, just saying.



As for my own experience... I have a few issue with how WH are managed. The overlay that get on top of the default New Map Window is plain horrible. Maybe had a toggle button when in WH that switch between universe map and current WH map (with current WH map being shown as default, because when in a WH, the first thing you want to do is probe everything...)?

I feedbacked a lot of stuff on the new map already. I don't see any progress on what I feedbacked to CCP, which also has been confirmed as issues to other people. Why should I not rant at CCP after I feedbacked to CCP 4 or 5 times already?

But for the sake of hurting your feelings a bit more: For instance, what is the point of this? If you can reasonably explain to me the benefits of this picture over the old map, I may or may not change my opinion on the map a bit.

Please change the circle cursor to a normal arrow cursor that I can acutally click at the probe box precisely where I want to without guessing ...

I still hate that the probes still show up and I have to click on one of the directional arrows to move the center probe around first before I can move it around comfortably.

I'm probably missing something there, but its still annoying.

New map is pretty, old map works. The "zoom in to system" thing might look cool but it just feels clunky and awkward when youre trying to scan. Give me a system only version of the new map....basically the old system map in a window.... and I won't shed tears.

Hey, there was official thread about it improving it and they did not do anything to improve it from last 2 releases. Probably team was disbanded and works on other projects now, and will come back to it after 5 years, when they will make new map because the current one is not what they would want to have in game. Lol

New map best map.

Aside from the same problems we had with the old map (no 3d arrows), the new map in no way impedes my ability to scan, find sites, and clean up their loot.

Though I do agree with the circle cursor - that's just daft.

The "Where the f*** are my bookmarks" filter is indeed not good for people keeping tons of them. Most likely thought for people just bookmarking points of interests. But i do agree is clunky for PvPers keeping lots of bookmarks everywhere. (I actually have so much bookmarks that the map is hidden underside...)

This is actually really simple. Look at everything the old map did when it came to inner-system navigation, and probing. Not just the layout, but the controls as well. Then scrap everything you did differently on the "new map" and replace it with the solid/very effective old map!

They used to have a homogenic system->universe map before and it was not as terribly bad performing as the new map.
The probe icons in the new mpa are horribly intrusive. The old map had its issues with arrows on the probe box somehow being freaking mouse cursor magnet. But the new map is absolutely atrocious from a functional POV.
