Best course of action be to put that map next to other experiments like WiS or industry teams, and never talk about it again.

They used to have a homogenic system->universe map before and it was not as terribly bad performing as the new map.
The probe icons in the new mpa are horribly intrusive. The old map had its issues with arrows on the probe box somehow being freaking mouse cursor magnet. But the new map is absolutely atrocious from a functional POV.

See I don't get this. For me the new map works fine. It performs fine, probing is easy, and best of all, I can still see my HUD...what are you trying to do with it that is harder or worse than the old map?

Do we really need another thread about new map?
Just go there and post what you dislike:

I bet there will be complain threads. New icons were on Sisi long before they hit TQ.

Because they're not listening?

Here's the stats on the new map: http://i.imgur.com/RDXHG4u.png
Here they are on the old map: http://i.imgur.com/mlThcQS.png

The red arrowed system is the same one and has 4 players.

The distinction between the selected system and the surroundings on the old map is clear, on the new map it's simply terrible.

I should be able to see, at a glance, a heatmap of activity - not dead/1-50 people/SoE hub.

And let's not forget the couple (of hundred) complaints that scanning is terribad.

But hey, they're listening, right?

It works pretty good for setting auto pilot destinations... just saying.

Instead of complaining you folks should be proffering suggestions to improve it even more.

My new map/overview ideas:

Make the differing sizes of ship icons closer. Add a bunch of really detailed minor differences in each ship - something for each race, so that (with a magnifying glass) you can tell which type of hac it is by it's icon. Going nuts on this column will allow you to just take away the ship type option on the overview. It would be awesome to eventually phase out 'ship type' and have it replaced with small arcane symbols with slight variances to allow you quick visual ship recognition instead of having to read all those ship types.

Add a 'most dangerous' column so that I could sort by which ship type is more dangerous and put that on top.

(this is kind of a fleet issue, but does involve UI changes) Make it so the FC can force primary targets to the top of the overview fore everyone in fleet. FC should not have to rely on some noobs botched settings to get ordered damage on the correct targets in a timely manner.

Ship icons on grid should automatically pop up on the map. They should be large enough to blot out any of the other clutter the map is automatically forcing me to look at. There should be no way to enable or disable this feature - we'll get used to it and find creative ways to work around... errr better utilize this awesome new feature.

4 simple things to make the new map and UI in general much better.

You could always see the HUD with the previous Map. You just couldn't see space.

No tactical overlay

Big blobs for each individual probe.

About the only thing I like about the new map are warp vectors.
