Just a quick note for clarification. This is not a software related solution a la Valve's Source Filmmaker. It is a collection of assets to use in making your own videos. Obviously I'd love a software solution or other in-game features to make it easier to make videos (you should see my camera controls wishlist I sent to the dev team!), but this is a bit more low tech than what some of you are responding with.

Just wanted to manage expectations on that a bit for this particular project. Suggestions for a video making tool (as opposed to toolkit) and in game stuff like green screens are very much welcome though and I will take notes on them as well.

Although I think some assets would be great for release, I also think that tutorials and import/export settings would help immensely and like I mentioned, those skinned and textured 3D models would definitely be something which would be awesome. Blink

I mentioned this previously in prior correspondences but these are some tools/assets I think would be very handy:

(no particular order)

- a webGL type setup of all the ship/stations with the greenscreen option
- access to the full music library/sound effect library (within reason of course) with license to use them for projects (YouTube & Twitch can be a bit iffy on that sort of stuff with their automated Algorithms)
- a full, high quality, *.png library of all the NPC faction logos. I guess you can do that with the in-game player alliance logos as well since the new system shouldn't be a problem though maybe that's something CCP's Legal team will need to discuss amongst themselves.

These, at a minimum, should give the video makers & Twitch streamers the assets to create their own stuff like intros/outros etc. without overburdening CCP with the work. It also allows for more creativity on the users part.

Very nice initiative,

while i think we can get most music from soundcloud having the music and sound effects (radio chatter plx) in one spot or combined in packs would be helpfull.

I'd like to see images from the ships without a background so we can quickly add them to overlays, thumbnails etc saving us time in a picture editing program.

resources is one thing but motivation is a big factor aswell. Perhaps ccp could do themed contests for images, videos etc once in a while. I don't think prizes are needed, if ccp posts the top 3 somewhere that's a great prize in and of itself. Getting that kind of exposure is something that has always boosted my motivation.

An easy way to strip the sounds out of a video, and add on other sound (i.e. music) on top of the video.

This is great. The only thing I would suggest is to widen the scope beyond being creative with video. This covers or at least could cover fan art and my particular angle of music.

An EVE colour-palette/guide would be awesome. Frequently it's screenshot - open picture - grab colours anyways to get the colours somehwat right, having a rather smallish image displaying all colours (partially for grabbing) would be superhandy. But trying to get caldari grey can be quite some work.

Having the eve font styles easily accessible (with maybe some notes in a txt, all as a zip) instead of pulling it from eve-files would be cool, too. I can't find the fonts in the client, not sure if I'm incompetent or they're not there as a seperate thing. (That's more of a thing for pvp-videos and getting info text to match the client style)

:heartbroken:
Better camera controls would be a heaven-sent pleasure, if we can't have our own 'Jessica'.

Please make this happen, CCP.

Edit: On a more constructive note - I'll seriously look forward to the fonts bundle. I've been working on UI elements at home, but having something handier than screenshots to work with is going to be a big bonus too. Thank you.

Out of game assets like .obj files for ships would be a killer feature for video editors.

Higher resolution Corp/Alliance logos, especially in game created corp logos that probably don't have player created larger formats like most alliance logos would have.

A client that doesn't eat itself if all the sounds are turned on.

In a fantasy world, I'd love a camera view mode in the client where I can detach the camera from my ship and use the keyboard to pan and scan across the field without trying to use the rather cumbersome advanced camera menu we have now.

It would also be awesome if there was a program to allow people to join Sisi (or even another test server) where all ships and skills were available so people could get B-Roll type footage without having to beg their friends to help all the time.

As long as there will be a greenscreen option I'm happy (also put it into the client like with characters)

Maybe also clips like that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi7skfigVBk from templar one .. but more like the "Iron Man" holographic things .. to show some of the ships to highlight : that braket is an merlin that is a rifter ...

EDIT: also an stand alone "client" were you would set different path for the ships would be great for screnshots etc in the style of that in the art book .. ever tried to get 2 friends to fly in an nice straight PARAlLEL line ?

This an awesome initiative!

I don't have any amazing ideas outside of what Biohazard and Carlos mentioned. A WebGL setup for ship models (including mod activations pls) and a series of transitional clips for live content like tournaments are my big asks. Hopefully something not already mentioned comes to mind.

Excited to see where this goes!

Echoing the greenscreen desires, but what would REALLY help us is better/deeper camera controls and options ingame.

ok i see. So you should probably reword the topic. Because a toolkit is a collection of tools and tools in computer science context is software used to create things. What you providing are assets or resources for video editors and streamers.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Adding to what I said above, you could just make *.mov videos of all the ships spinning (sort of like what I did using WebGL for The o7 Report) without any background.

This would let the ship be overlayed on top of another video/image layer that can help with various things.

The One Man Crew video did this as well to show off the ship being used by the participant.

As for live streaming, there's a program called CLRBrowser (plugin for OBS & XSplit I believe) that uses *.swf files and HTML files to animate various things (eg. subscribers, info, etc.) that could use some loving. I'm not overly familiar with that sort of stuff though but I'm sure SirSqueebles or someone can share their insight.
