Apparently they realized how much bandwidth it would take so now they'll pretend we don't exist. TBH even if they uploaded it to TBP as a torrent I would be all over that.

+1, Eve needs this to remain on-par with new games that have come out.

Hoping to hear something about this at Eve-Vegas!

Absolutely YES to this. My GPU is a fairly ancient GTX 460 but I can play EVE happily at 1080p with max settings bar AA, which I have set to low. The textures are starting to become very dated, and given the majority of EVE players run Nvidia 5 series or later cards (I seem to recall this stat from something CCP did in the past) there is no doubt our rigs can handle better textures. Heck just have them as part of the standard install and introduce a new "very high" setting for texture quality! Job done!

Get to it CCP, with the jump changes I think you might need to sweeten the deal for a lot of the player base. A high res texture pack will make the game look much better and give the player base something to go "ooooh shiney" about.

Hey all - thanks for all the input in this thread!

I just want to clarify that while we have higher resolution textures for our ships, delivering them to you is not as trivial as putting the files on the interwebs and be done. We are looking into how to best do this, and we are not holding back because we think no-one wants this! It is just not trivial to do, and we need to both investigate and weigh various options for how to deliver it, that require involvement from multiple aspects of how we develop EVE - such as the rendering engine, game settings, launcher and server operations.

We have heard you loud and clear though that this is something players would appreciate - and we are investigating if we can do it and when. You’ll see a devblog about it if we decide to go ahead.

Even WoT divide HiRes textures from normal in form of zip file to download

In EVE it should be as option in launcher (download button, and check box for apllying them or not)

Well tbh we want them no matter how they'r implemented!

Make it happen.

Depth of field or tilt-shifting also needs to be a thing. With the option to turn it off for those that do not enjoy such visual effects.

Well... maybe they're waiting until they release the new Domi... the sight of a high-res version of the current model would probably be too much for mortal eyes...

Anyway, seeing as I'm someone who only runs one character at a time, I'd definitely be willing to use this.

Well, perhaps I'm new, but I actually think EVE Online looks pretty great. If anything, I think the collision is a little wonky. Sometimes I randomly bounce off of things in weird ways.

It is interesting that they said they already have the textures done. Maybe it will get released in conjunction with that really cool looking ship paint system pre-view I saw on Youtube?

*fingers crossed*
