I think you're arguing semantics when the idea is a fairly simple one: sign up to support halting the spreading prejudices and bigotry.

So the Westboro Baptists are being tolerant of the intolerant gay counter-protestors, and the gay counter-protestors are being tolerant of the intolerant Westboro Baptists? That makes absolutely no sense, but do carry on.

You got all of that from what I wrote did you? Seems as though you just enjoy the play with words so have fun with that, do carry on.

Is this a thread about that woman who shut down a legitimate charity event so she could run her own event that would funnel any donations directly in to her bank account?

This post was lovingly crafted by a member of the Goonwaffe Posting Cabal, proud member of the popular gay hookup site somethingawful.com, Spelling Bee, Grammar Gestapo & #1 Official Gevlon Goblin Fanclub member.

while related, it's not directly about her, but about the damage she herself has been doing.

Looks like developers are trying to create a diversion by using the bigot card to cover up their mafia-like, backroom deals of "Let me put my **** in you/I'll let you put your **** in me and I'll give you a good review/if you give me a good review on my/your gaming website."

Feel-good garbage.

If they can't be held legally accountable for failing to abide by what they sign for then it's just free PR at no cost and they aren't worth any credit for it.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

Funny how the best "journalism" on the subject is to be found on Encyclopedia Dramatica. I won't link the page as it has some NSFW pics toward the end of the article.

Also, how about a plea for truth from gamers. Oh... right, that's why we're bigots.

Post with someone else's main™.

First off I do not agree one bit with Westoboro. I live fairly close to those bastards and despise them...having said that...yes. They are being tolerant...they simply do not accept those lifestyles, and by law have the right to make themselves look like idiots. There is a big...HUGE...difference between tolerance and acceptance. True intolerance means you destroy the thing you do not tolerate. You can tolerate a lifestyle or race, creed....whatever....without accepting it.

Unfortantely (at least in the US) the term intolerance and bigotry gets used too much and incorrectly. Tolerance does not mean acceptance. Every human has the right to be comfortable or uncomfortable with another human being. Its nature. Doesn't mean they can be intolerant and do them harm.

In the famous abbreviation of most EVE players... HTFU.

I'll link that for you, my scroll wheel is broken so I have no idea what may or may not be at the bottom of that page.

Though for the record, I don't believe Zoe and Anita are "destroying" the game industry, or that this deserves to be such a scandal for games journalism.

Journalism is biased, corrupted, subjective, influenced by agendas / special interests, and so on and so forth, no matter if it covers games or the sex life of Sri Lanka's river crab. And it will always be as long as there are humans involved, it's part of our nature.

So Zoe having slept with Nathan before him covering her indie "game" in the press, or having slept with one of the judges that gave her "game" an award, of having slept with her boss, and having done this and that, is pretty much irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Anita's and Zoe's opinions are worthless garbage, they are both attention-seeking manipulative scammers, and the main media sties have smartly re-framed and diverted this whole discussion to be about misogyny (such as this stunt with the plea letter), but on the other hand the #gamergate people are blowing things completely of proportion. It's simply business as usual.

I have removed a rule breaking post and those quoting it.

As the Out of Pod Experience Rules state:

3. Discussions about politics and religion not allowed, there are other websites with forums for these topics.

You know, the most intolerant people on the Internet seem to be those that always preach about tolerance. It's generally because they are confused as to what "tolerance" really is, thinking it means no one ever says a mean thing or gives you the stink eye, and everyone always celebrates whatever you think makes you a special snowflake. This attitude, of course, is incompatible with actual tolerance, which is why the original word must be maimed to conform with IngSoc.

Just came across something interesting relevant to this whole "plea for tolerance" in the gaming community:

Quote:
Gaming websites are currently posting articles with titles such as "The End of Gamers" "Gamers are Over" and "The Death of an Identity", painting a picture of a racist, sexist, misogynistic, homophobic, bigoted community that is wailing with despair as it collapses. But the journalists posting these articles don't understand the situation correctly. Gamers don't oppose the SJW agenda because they are bigots; they oppose it because it's annoying.

It's annoying to hear someone tell you that you must be politically correct at all times. It's annoying to hear someone tell developers what kind of content should and should not be allowed in video games. It's annoying to hear someone give a low score to a game because something in it offended them. It's annoying to hear someone complain about the content in a game, when the game was clearly designed for a different target demographic.

The "girl gamer" mascot that the male community of 4chan "created" and then proceed to make naked versions of?

Well... they not be perfectP All you need is someone claiming rule 34.

it did started innocently and with a purpose tho, however thinking that somebody would not come up with nude versions of a game character, even moreso one that came out of the... amorph mass that is 4chan, is just wishful thinking.

Also, while preaching "tolerance" they are often just sugar-coating their frightening lust to force everyone to conform to THEIR standards and ethos. The people who scream the most for tolerance are also the people most obsessed with telling the rest of us not only what to do, what to pay for, who to support, they also legislate "thought crimes."

To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.

Do and say what you like in cyberspace - and try wriggle out of it via GMs/Mods - but in the real world, a lot of this crap is classed as a hate crime.

I don't believe that the State has the right to actually use one's thought's and opinions against them in a criminal trial. The phrase "Hate Crime" is ridiculous and offensive. Do you honestly believe that the State can actually tell you what to think, or who to love? How 'bout who to hate? It's freakin ridiculous. Get your freaking Nanny-State busibodies the f*** out of MY MIND.

As an aside, there are still old laws on the books in several American states than prohibit engaging in oral sex. You think anyone cares that "the law" says they can't do it? You wanna raid every seedy motel room in the country and make sure people are only engaging in "proper" sex? No, even you and yours would find that ridiculous.

Statists always and only respect "the law" when it suits their purposes.

BTW, read 1984. Theyre just a little behind schedule but theyre making up for the lost time with generations of publik skool kids being indoctrinated.

You know who else liked hate crime laws, don't you ? Ugh

As an aside, this forum is visited and posted on by EvE players from around the globe. Talking about certain topics in general is ok, but gearing it down to one nation only and judging everything that is happening (globally) from that point is not. The reason being: virtually always it leads to discussing (international) politics. And that is prohibited on this forum.

Having said that, I have removed a rule breaking post and those quoting it.

The Rules:
11. Discussion of forum moderation is prohibited.

The discussion of EVE Online forum moderation actions generally leads to flaming, trolling and baiting of our ISD CCL moderators. As such, this type of discussion is strictly prohibited under the forum rules.
