CCP isn't going to go back because that would be admitting they made a mistake... We all know CCP doesn't make mistakes.

I'm just surprised they couldn't come up with something better than "there is no old system anymore". What did they do... Destroy all saved files then use a MIB Neuralyzer on their employees so all traces were destroyed? It reminds me of "The dog ate my homework" story used by school children.

That's what she said?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

The system is there. Just jump through a wormhole. That's all people want.

Its really impressive how obnoxious a company can be forcing a feature that does PHYSICAL harm to their costumers and then keep saying they are trying to find ways to increase player retention.

Uhh..who's forcing you to play? Biomass and unsub.

I bet you are a great business man with this type of mentality.

You can't always give in to costumer either unless ending with a huge clusterfuck of different things is your goal.

So in a pure EVE-o fashion, we can tell all the people affected by this to go play in WH if they are not happy right?

I'm pretty sure telling people to play a different way instead of asking for a change about something has been common for quite a long time here.

P

Not you, but I'm really baffled by the frequent CCP dictator dev fanboi whiners itt who somehow imagine the mere presence of an off button will affect their gameplay. It won't. The default state would be visuals on. Someone in CCP just got besotted with the idea of nauseating camera pans before every jump, and intrusive blinky green and red diarrhea in space after every jump. Some people though on their own screens simply would not have to see the gate jump or autoscan barf that was forced into the game. There was no outcry for these things amongst the player base prior to their introduction.

Lots of people that play have ship explosions turned off. More probably have turret and missile effects toggled off. None of those client side graphical choices affect immersion apparently to CCP. Most certainly none of those individual off buttons affect any other player's client at all.

This is all we asking for, an off button that we can toggle off, while the majority of players probably would leave the visuals in their default "on" state. It's really rather simple, and the coding is probably already in-game considering the off buttons for various existing graphical effects. Or they could just have jump toggle-able to wormhole effects ~

CCP, there are off buttons for ship explosions, missile effects, turret effects, etc. "Immersion" does not seem to be harmed by those. So, please give us a persisting off button for the jump gate and autoscan visuals.

Do not try and cite the old system. That's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth: there is no old system.

I was specifically talking about telling people to go to W-space. There were three comments from three different people, on three different topics, that made that exact statement that day.

Hey, CCP we really want the option to toggle on the old system. If the old system is gone please create a new system which provides the option to display a progress bar like the old system instead of the new jump animation.

After a long pause, I just subscribe again for a few months... After all, Eve remains the only choice in the spaceship market, for the moment...

And obviously, this animation remains an issue for me. Many has and will still think that it is over-reacting to criticize it, but this is the kind of small details that can motivate or demotivate a player to stay in this game. I could do a list of most of them (the flashing white ball over some stargates, etc), but I will just UP this topic for the moment.

If one CCP employee read this, here is a link to my old post who try to give few constructive feedback about this animation.

I just hope that one day, CCP will stop being stubborn and just correct the small details. I seriously doubt that they can afford to stay like this forever while new competitors are coming. I wonder how much potential players Eve didn't attract because of that, as this game don't deserve to stay a niche...

Removing obsolete signature... You just lost time to read that =)

To stop being a niche game, it would have to go away from the component making ti a niche game and that would basically mean going away from the core foundation on what the game is built... It's not details like the jump animation that cause it to be a niche game.

While the jump animation is no longer "new", it is still supremely annoying.

And I still don't understand why almost every other effect in game is customizable, except this.

Ship explosions, missile effects, turrets, even whether ships occlude the sun. Station environments. Shaders.

But no, no, you cannot turn off the awful shaky grey tunnel.

Well, I am down to one account from a peak of 5, and this is at least in part because of the tunnel thing, and the dev response to it. And to those that post here saying that the animation is fine - good for you. We don't want to take it away from you. Just give the people who don't like it a checkbox to turn it off. It is not hard to do, really.
