Can we turn off the new jump animation?

Oh look, more sound medical advice and opinons from someone who is obviously a doctor. And a medical statistician at that, who clearly knows exactly what percentage of the population is suffering from a given condition. Oh wait, nevermind, it's just another random person projecting his own personal experience onto everyone else and assuming it must be the same for everyone.

In my case, the jump animation triggers migraines. The warp animation does not. You can say they are the same, but clearly they are different enough that one is causing a problem while the other is not. I put the blame on the flashing lights within the jump tunnel, as I have had similar issues with other pulsing light sources.

As for the nausea, there are differences in the transparency of the warp tunnel allowing outside reference points whereas the jump tunnel removes all frame of reference, the sudden shifts to and from first person perspective, etc. The bottom line is that there are plenty of reasons why the jump animation is causing issues for people who have no problems with the warp tunnel.

At this point, I really don't care if you think this is a problem worth CCP's time or not. The fact is that there are those of us for whom it is a problem. There are CCP devs for whom it is a problem. CCP has admitted it is a problem, and have promised to fix it. We're just here waiting for that promise to be kept.

Really is hard to believe they haven't fixed this. Variable, if statement, check box in configuration, done.

Anyway, F10 (or rebind it) and travel away. You can still see the overview. Sorry the noise is equally horrid.

Because of people like you we cant have better graphics.
CCP keeps going after people like you while it should be the opposite, CCP pushing graphics and you... well run after CCP or stop playing.

tl;dr: Get a better computer, any $300 can play this game maxed out at 100 fps.

You are out-of-context sir, but I check this topic sometimes to see if an option is finally added, and you made me wonder if the animation would be better with higher graphics (maybe no flashing light in the tunnel ? etc.), as I have now an HD 7870. It wasn't the case when I posted here few months ago, I played with low graphics. So, I activated a four hour ticket and reinstalled the game...

...but the jump animation is still annoying, mostly because the flashing lights are still there. In fact it is worse because the standard warp animation too become horrible with high graphics, but I think that the last AMD driver has some influence, warping close to a the planet give a sensation of artefacts. I hope I still have time to try with a more stable driver, or it will be for the next time I can use a four hour ticket.

PS after edit : I had a serious bug of FPS with Eve who required much time to find a solution. Playing at 4 FPS isn't great and I tried multiple drivers before installing the last 14.4 and do some manipulations who corrected the problem, but this driver don't seem very stable, as usual coming from AMD I guess...

Removing obsolete signature... You just lost time to read that =)

The warp tunnel is nice because it doesn't force a camera move on you, gate jump should do the same.
Gate jump makes a cool demo for others, but I'd very much like to see it changed.
If I'm doing a lot of jumps... I go to map view.

Fix for this issue:

Step one: click jump
Step two: Close eyes
Step three: Open eyes when jump completed.

No one's forcing anyone to look at the screen while jumping and this method simulates *exactly* what jumping was like before.

If you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all...

qft^ A lot of pages for this thread, to fix something that was removed. Yeah, there was something there... but now it's not. There is no on/off that can be easily dropped in, would require a newer system, and probably over complicated leading to tons of problems. See, this is why we can't have nice things in the internet spaceship sandbox P

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Lord knows I'm not the best at this computering thing.

From what I understand of EVE, all the pretty gfx are client side. The code clientside has to be sent a trigger from the server to start jump, and end jump (hence the variable times in the warp tunnel, waiting for session change and grid load).

Is it really that difficult to stick the equiv of an "If checkbox checked=yes, then blank screen until grid load. Else play animation" in front of this particular graphical function?

Hell, if it's that hard, kludge it. Give an option that replaces the current warp tunnel textures with black on black on black. Warp tunnel still plays, you just can't see it.

7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided. --Eve New Player Guide

CCP never said it would be hard; they said it would be a "cop out".

Why a switch on/off? Because the new animation doesn't add anything to gameplay and it's graphically annoying. In other words, it's worse than bad: it's useless. Simple as that.     _ - Kina Ayami_

meh you guys have little to do but complain about things that don't effect actual game play. If it's not this with FiS (excellent improvement btw), you guys are complaining how CCP won't drop mass amounts of time and money into picking WiS up again.

This effects nothing with gameplay, I see no reason to insist CCP overdevelop it when they can be working on more important things.

So it looks like there's a new feature that players find annoying and want to turn off. CCP should really start a queue for these.

I have removed some rule breaking posts and those quoting them..

The Rules:
4. Personal attacks are prohibited.

Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another forum user. Posts of this nature are not beneficial to the community spirit that CCP promote and as such they will not be tolerated.

26. Off-topic posting is prohibited.

Off-topic posting is permitted within reason, as sometimes a single comment may color or lighten the tone of discussion. However, excessive posting of off-topic remarks in an attempt to derail a thread may result in the thread being locked, or a forum warning being issued.

CCP has been coming out with a lot of these "features". I remember when they thought it was cool to remove the ship spinning dock and force you to "walk" to your ship... Yea that went over well.

I do understand they want to improve things but sometimes the good idea fairy needs to be pointed, webbed and neuted!

I can't believe it is that hard. CCP Karkur would have this knocked out over lunch and probably knit a nice cap at the same time. For some reason CCP just doesn't want to.

I can stand on my head in the galley of a small ship in high waves while facing backwards and not get sick, so this doesn't affect me directly. But their intransigence here is simply baffling. I wonder if they will take the same hard line with the "tooltips" kerfuffle?

This thread illustrates who is fit for space travel, and who should stay at home.

I am fit for space travel. YAY!

I can understand the need of some people to turn off animations and stuff. CCP should just add an option of turning on and off special effects in the video options. Everything on or everything off. Problem solved. Make it a feature in the next update.

Oddly enough, I've done high-altitude flight training in military jet aircraft. That gave me less trouble than this stupid animation.

As silly as it sounds this is actually what I do every time I jump through the gate.

With my play style I often find myself traveling a lot in EVE and as a result that means a lot of gate jumping. The new tunnel effect literally causes me physical discomfort. A jump here and there is fine, but when you have to travel somewhere far it's beginning to get troublesome. I don't know what the exact problem is but there is just too much going on. The camera warping and rotating, the FOV zooming, etc...

I just hope that something gets done about this. Obviously not everyone is affected by this, but for those of us that are it's just sad that we have to resort to things like closing our eyes or looking away during the jump - when you are driven to do something so silly to avoid looking at the screen there is obviously something wrong with the effect's design, no matter how fancy it may look.

I have the browser open in center screen when I'm just travelling several jumps, on eve-o forums usually (just make sure the overview is visible).
