Attention 06/02/2014: Seems to be working for everyone now, thanks CCP.

Character selection screen and everything except UI is now flickering heavily. Came here just to check if anyone else has the same problem now?

Ubuntu 12.04 (64)
Wine 1.5.30, not too many changes to winecfg, got the game patched and running without any dll changes
Nvidia GTX 570, fresh drivers (edit: Had 331.20, updated to 331.38, no change)

Will start trying out... things...

Edit - Only during mouse movement, completely black if I'm not moving my mouse
Edit2 - No change after updating Nvidia drivers from 331.20 to 331.38
Edit3 - Using dualscreen, just thought to mention it.

TL;DR for the whole thread: Reports from almost every common distro, even some windows/mac users there. Also seeing wine versions starting from 1.3 up to the latest one, and a mix of Nvidia, ATI and few others(Intel mostly). I will personally just wait and see what happens with tomorrow's DT and possible fix without touching my system more than I already have done.

Can someone please confirm this is the patch for TODAY 04/01/14, after downtime ( As in within the last hour) and all was well before hand?

Yes, online before the patch and right after. Nothing else changed in my setup.

Yeh I can confirm yesterday build is fine from backups.

For some reason I thought downtime was after 12. I guess now we have a minimum wait of 24hours for fix. Looking to see if any band aid can be knocked up.

Same here. At the character selection the background is black, the single character windows are flickering and it looks as if parts of the background picture and the ship picture changing place with the character picture for splits of a second, creating this flickering effect. Docked in station, the flickering goes worse when moving the mouse cursor.
Normal windows like settings window are stable. It seems that movements/activations on the background activates the flickering. For example the old login screen (when you start ExeFile.exe) is stable but only until you press Esc for the settings window: the background picture becomes blurred and the lower part of the Screen (where you put in username+password) starts flickering now.

Xubuntu 12.04 amd64, Wine 1.6.1, Nvidia Gforce 9600 GT

And I did try turning it off and on again... Blink

Edit: NVIDIA Driver Version: 319.32

I am experiencing this issue as well.

The logon screen after entering password, character select screen, static station background image, and when undocked HUD and brackets are all flickery. It looks like it's flipping between the buffer it should be displaying and a zero buffer or something.
