And like most filler pieces by non-gamers, they got most everything wrong.

Nonetheless, I do like seeing EVE hit the mainstream media every once in a while.

yes and every one of them is written by the same guy who puts eve in the number one spot of every list while at the same time making sure everyone knows what a horrible terrible game eve is and they should never ever play it. As much as I enjoy those he slips spreadsheets online in at least twice per article.

*edit* same as yahoo article, but the last paragraph reminds me of that one alliance who lost Fountain saying something like "we have goons right where we want them." what was their name again? I think it started with a T.

They seemed to be preoccupied with some imagined exchange rate for real money to isk, and didn't even hit upon time codes and plex. Welcome to modern journalism, its all flash and drama and very little content or fact.

Without that coversion rate, immaginary or not, outsiders cannot correlate with the game and anythign you write or speak about the game has zero value or meaning for those persons. If you want to make news you need to connect the readers to the news.


If I write for example, that here a bank was stolen in 1992 and 5 million cruseiros (our coin back then) were stolen.. what woudl you think?

You have no idea if that is relevant or not.. well just for the sake of completing the example, 5 million cruseiros could buy an ice cream.. a small one...

Pretty sure a planet wouldn't survive if you fired a doomsday at it. Blame CCP for not being able to actually target planets.

The only reason it's reaching national news is because some journalists know they can get a lot of hits by misrepresenting what that number actually means.

There was a guy from NPR on Reddit asking for an explanation, and once he heard the *actual* news - that most of those Titans etc probably were not bought by PLEX (money)...he seemed incredibly unwilling to run a story on it.
