But if CCP management chooses to ignores you, ingnore the press, ignore the comments from the community and so on, how can you put any pressure on them at all?

I think the simple answer to that is you dont, CCP will continue to dive towards the floor and Eve dies a slow and painful death.

Then I'm right back to my original question: If all this activity to put pressure on CCP will not prevent the event of "Eve dies a slow and painful death", then why do it? Wouldn't it be better to spend our time figuring out something what would work? (No I'm not sure what that would be. The best Ive thought of is face to face meetings with the investors of CCP).

Wait, wait.

You're a time traveler from the future, and instead of bringing lotto numbers you came back to the past to tell us that the media campaign won't work?

As much as you might want to wring your hands in hysteria, media pressure as an effective strategy is not new, and this is not the first time it has been deployed.

That was then. This is now.

Now they may be so invested in the two new games that they may feel its best to ignore any bad press about the current situation, assuming it will either blow over, or not be so damaging that they cannot make it all back when the new games come out. They may be thinking: "Don't worry about it. When everyone sees the new games they will think its so utterly AWESOME that all will be forgiven!"

I really think you need a Plan B here, something to do if CCP management simply ignores the bad press, or just gives it lip service.

Refuses to listen to players
Terrible at making things fun

That's assuming that CCP ignore the bad press, they do that they seriously risk losing potential customers and future products being tainted. The last great "poop-storm" that reared its ugly head we got a couple of blogs and a 'it will all blow over soon' attitude, once the press got their hands on it the tune changed pretty rapidly and an emergency CSM meeting was held, huge promises were made etc etc. 4 months later what do we have to show of ANY progress? Basically.... a photo of a white board with a few ideas which potentially are going to take 5 years to deploy.

Personally I'm holding out to winter before I make the decision to stay or leave, if this patch falls flat on its face like the last couple I dont see the point of sticking around, which is a shame after 5 years of playing, 2 fanfests and a hell of a lot of good friendships.

I'm completely missing something about this "war on the management of CCP". What if they simply ignore it? Say nothing and keep doing what they are doing in allocating resources?

The goal of the war is to get a better game by having more resources used on Eve. Helping to kill off subscriptions, lowering the resources available, does not seem to be a way to get that goal.

What am I missing? How can we pressure CCP, other than trying to kill the game we are trying to save?

You might be missing a lot, since there's no 'war'. The CSM is exerting pressure as a community to try to get the management to allocate more resources to the game we all love - a SPACESHIP game.

The CSM has not called for unsubs, or for 'war'. I'd suggest you start reading primary sources, rather than hyperbolic summaries on eve-o.

Mittani, as large as your ego may be, even you have completely missed the point and/or theme of EVE. I think the average derper can tell you that flying Spaceships is a big part of EVE, but this is not entirely, 100% a spaceship GAME. Once you realize this, well, your face might explode.

We are playing a space simulator. Exploration, combat, mining, station trading, politics, corporation management and (soon) player interaction via station establishments.

Tell me again that this is simply a spaceship game, or give me your CSM chair, because, obviously, I understand this game better than you and I've only been around since '09.

CCP has ignored bad press before, only to react when it reaches a DEFCON 1 shitstorm. And no doubt they will continue to ignore it until it explodes in their faces again.

Personally, I am confident that the winter expansion will be as poorly executed as Dominion but suck at least as bad as Incarna, so I am not holding my breath over it.

eve is primarily a spaceship game. but Incarna does have it's place as well to increase the richness of the universe.

You should just go with plan B now. And maybe C and D while you are at it.

Time to treat it like a hot drop operation and bring as much firepower as you can muster all at once.

And I don't disagree that equal time should be spent on both FiS and WiS, but making a simple generalization and calling EVE a spaceship game takes away some of a player's credibility, in my eyes.

I disagree. The goal here is not to indiscriminately blast CCP. EVE is in a crisis, and we're trying to pressure the management into reallocating resources to FiS to save the game from stagnation. Indiscriminately lashing out doesn't help achieve that goal.

I have, in the past, indiscriminately lashed out at CCP - in 2007, during the T20 crisis. I've learned a lot since then. The worst thing about lashing out indiscriminately is that it dilutes your message and provides an easy refutation to anything you're saying; your arguments can be dismissed as a tantrum.

Moreover, lashing out at CCP by using every possible tactic loses sight of the entire purpose of our actions. A massive push might send EVE over the edge, and that kind of chaos is also impossible to control. Events take on a life of their own; you can't back away from the precipice.

It's also important to keep in mind your path to victory. If you 'unload', you lose sight of that. The CSM has a clear path to victory: Media pressure -> FiS Reallocation -> CSM Spotlights the Reallocation and praises CCP -> CSM works with CCP to restore interest in EVE. If we throw the kitchen sink at CCP, it's makes it difficult to work with them once the crisis is resolved to salvage the situation.

If your primary concern with articles like this is The Mittani's ego and not the sense that he and the CSM by extension are talking then you might not be surprised to learn that you have no interest in EVE being a better game and are more interested in the shallow lows of sensationalism. I have to support this. The lack of major content update on the FIS for the past year is saddening, to say the least. Eve will die if this continues. Please don't let it happen.
