I hear supers are pretty good for blapping celestises and megathrons

I think everyone involved will disagree to the relevance.

Hey, CCP, why don't you give the CFC one free node crash at the time of our choosing? We get one 'get out of whelp free card' to match the one your engineer just handed test.

You would have dropped supers how? My understanding is that the system was overloaded, with more CFC on the way. I'm guessing that if you would have dropped supers, some would have made it in and most would have been locked out by traffic control.
If you have any information to the contrary, please share.

The logs show nothing like that.

You're delusional and/or trolling.

We had you outnumbered close to 2:1 in battleships, your carriers were popping left and right, and your good friends (who left you to die earlier in the fight, btw) refused to escalate because we had 60+ dictors and 20+ hictors on the field.

AND YET THE CFC DIDN'T DROP A SINGLE CAPITAL. And they know why they didn't either. 300 megas aint gonna do much against a super blob.

Only if it accidentally triggers and remaps VFK instead.

It's unsurprising that your code doesn't check whether the excepted system actually exists on the node. A good coder always adds a sanity check regardless of how competent they expect the user to be.

You do realize how old the EVE codebase is, right? There's no guarantees of ease of integration even if this particular command was new. It's pretty :pohr: either way, but every programmer knows that this is just daily life. Decade-old code is never a good thing.

****, you're right. I wouldn't want to interfere with the narrative.

Ayures, seriously, why is this level of incompetence acceptable? When it happened to CFC dreads, why was it acceptable then? Modern IT systems should be creating archival images at regular intervals - intervals that actually shorten as usage increases due to the need to back-up a higher volume of data flow and state changes. Why is losing customer data acceptable, rather than a 5-10 minute (hell, 10% tidi, make it a half hour, an hour!) rollback?

You said (more than once) 'sure, we'll trade you for the dreads', and I'm saying that I think that'd be preferable to continued substandard service. I notice you don't seem to be respond to that - from me, or anyone else who's saying it. Why not?

Do you prefer substandard service?

We're irrelevant.

Only a small fraction of the playerbase.

We killed at least 10-15 and there was no sign of an incoming escalation. You guys were keen to let the carriers die. Had you actually wished to escalate, you would have done so before you started shedding carriers faster than I could lock targets and fire.

I've got to say that this all being because some CCP member fatfingered the first letter in a system name on their keyboard is pretty damn hilarious. But as others said, it seems there is a lot you can do to keep this from occurring in the future (IE: checking that the system in question actually exists before trying to remap with respect with it).

CCP you just ****** one of the largets fleet battels in eve history... THANKS!

In the attempt to improve the overall fight quality and node stability in the Z9PP system at 22:41 UTC by moving away all non-critical services from this node, our engineers unfortuntely made a mistake and actually moved the critical system from the current server node instead of moving all other systems. As result every pilot in this system lost connection to the node and therefore to Tranquility.

The system Z9PP is online and accessible again now.

It is extremely unfortunate to make such a mistake and we apologize deeply for disrupting one of the truly epic battles in the history of EVE; especially since this battle already raged on for several hours and was still heating up for more! We are very sorry about this incident and will make sure that such mistakes won't happen again.

Actually pretty cool you came out with such a sincere and honest explanatin. Thank you for that much.

Remember all those times when CFC dreads were ordered to not log back in?

And then all the TESTies flooded into the forums to demand that the dreads be destroyed and someone at CCP fired? Oh, wait...

Because people only started sanity checking inputs in the last 10 years.
