Can we turn off the new jump animation?

I could do without the new effect. If you can turn off your ship shaking in warp (or is it in combat, I can't remember, maybe both) why can't you turn this off? Seems like a no-brainer.

Same for the undock button. Isn't there an option for moving around the inventory button or something in station? Well, why can't we have the option to move around the undock button? Aren't there lots of UI components you can move all over the place based on your own preferences?

It's not that big a deal, but neither would fixing it be. (It almost seems like they moved it just so they'd get credit for fixing it, kinda like with the hangar.)

Anyway, I haven't been paying attention so I have no idea if the rest of the new patch is any good or not, but if there's an actual real war in Nullsec, at least something's improved.

Yeah the undock button is annoying too... 7 years of it being on bottom left and now CCP change to top right.

Main point of this thread is jump animation being OTT and making me not want to leave rens.

I can't help feel that the devs have taken to fixing stuff that was not broken again.
That said i do love the new scanner and jump animation.

I hate the undock!!!

but it raises the question if why not give both options.
The dock button could a be left in bottom left and added to station window. Boom no issues.
The jump animation could of been a setting. Boom no problems.

And if ccp say "well thats harder" well don't start something and do a half assed job.
If i did that at work i would be fired.

Couldn't agree more.

I simply fail to understand how a company that made such a great game makes such STUPID UI/UX mistakes like these.

So i logged into my main account (negative sec status) today to give it a try again, noticing i get this "You are a criminal" message whilst in the middle of the jump animation. What?

42" TVs.

No other reason to use up so much screen real estate, unless to make it easier for those playing on TVs...like console players.

We ARE looking at this and considering what we can do. The back end system used by the client has changed which makes a "turn off" not a real proposition. We are looking at ways to reduce the nausea reaction some players are experiencing through other means.

It would be helpful if we got feedback about what in particular during the jump sequence is causing the most difficulty

I am sorry for those adversely affected,.

The camera realign. Warp tunnel is Ok, but that realign is uncomfortable when you're jumping several systems in a row.

Maybe the tunnel sequence could be centered on the player ship rather than on the gate itself = no need for camera realign. That, or just skip the transition and play the tunnel sequence alone.

If your experiencing lag due to the latest graphic enhancements when jumping thru gates, stop being a cheap bastard and go buy a better computer. Or better yet...GO PLAY WOW Roll

Motion sickness due to the gate sequence...maybe see your Optometrist about getting the 2 inch thick glasses replaced as it causing you motion sickness on your space game, im sure it covered by your over 50's health insurance......weak

All the gate jump complaints about this new animation just prove that there is way too much gate jumping in this game.

It's a kick ass effect, but not when you see it 100 times a day.

Why do you need to make a piles of pointless jumps that lack any sort of danger to do anything in EVE online?

If you turn off auto-tracking that will at least save you from that one.....last......jolt and whirl around as you are thrown out of the gate. Instead your ship comes to a disturbingly sudden dead stop.

I have tracking off all the time and can not confirm what you say. Anyway...

The jump effect in association with that scan sweep thing (which i consider annoying as well) seems to have significant impact on the node performance. At least i have no other explanation for the fact that, since Odyssey, as soon as a greater number of people trying to enter a system the crowd is stopped by traffic control. I have not seen this before, to this extent.

And... yes, CCP- i know your logs show nothing.

I find it distracting and a bit disorienting

it seems like it takes me longer to jump, but I'm starting to think this is due to the animation outlasting my jump
my overview loads in the last 3rd of the animation, but something mental forces me to not do anything until I land

perhaps years of playing eve has something to do with it.

so in effect it takes me longer to jump even though it isn't taking longer for the actual jump to happen
and a complete jump takes me about 2-3 seconds, I never see the loading bar.

Neat as it is, and really CCP, it is only good for the first few times, (the department responsible should be compelled to fly a loot fleet from one end of the map to the other) it needs a toggle, just like a lot of your other graphikal improvealences

Tha part that is most anoying and makes me sick is that the tracking camera takes control and forces me against the gate. The actual warp animation makes me a bit dizzy but not as much as the turning of the camera.

I can feel the same effect while watching someone playing a FPS, where my pal moves his player/camera, my eyes are not coordinated to the movement and I don't know where to look. This makes the brain go bezerk, and usually I cant watch it more than about 5-10 minutes until I have to walk away.

A group of US air force pilots and a group of gamers playing Halo were tested for simulation motion sickness after an hour of playing. About 50% of both groups reported feeling some illness after that time had ended. These are people in their prime, especially the air force pilots who need to be extraordinarily fit.

Your ignorance of the condition does not make for a convincing argument. For one thing, it has less to do with the eyes than it does the inner ear, so an optometrist won't do jack. Additionally, people who are not rich are not being cheap. It is not cheap to spend your money wisely when you aren't as 'privileged' as you seem to be. But even with a 'better computer' and higher graphics settings, what makes you think it will make the effects of the animation any less? What if the higher LOD makes it worse?

I do not like jump animation and do not like any animation at all (play at "all disabled" graphic options - except weapon's vectors).

Real pleasure of EVE is in dynamic data exchange which takes place in Overview and Dscan.

After the 4th of June I log in with only one intent - to update my skill queue - jumping is make me sick.

So, CCP, could you make this "feat" optional?

P.S.: plus one for old undock button.

Gotta see the humor in all the people that complain about it being repeated over and over and over as they are traveling as if a black loading screen every jump wasn't. The new jump animation is a big move in a forward direction. However, it wouldn't hurt to make it a bit more subtle such as a single "stretching" look to and from destination opposed to a chaotic trip between systems.
