as a long time customer i just want to thank you, CCP for taking the time and effort to ensure a thorough safeguard our sensitive information. in addition, i don't need or want any compensation for this outage. the fact that you put in all those extra hours to keep our information protected is enough reward for me.

Is there anyone else that have serious problems with DC's?

I can logg into the launcher.
I can enter the game.
I can stay in game for 2-5 seconds Before getting "Socket closed".

Anyone else?

bypas launcher and you should be fine

to do so, right click on eve's icon => open file location, then in the opened file browser, navigate throught "bin" folder, then launch "ExeFile.exe" and you will start eve the old way.

it seems it gets more stable this way for many ppl, give it a try :)

good job on finding the vulnerability so quickly. Bad job on not finding it until it was too late. Possible job ending mistake there so good luck to whoever was in charge

tbh, it is almost impossible to prevent any code from containing vulnerabilities.

that said, a competent dev team WILL put emergency procedures in place so that, in the event such an unknwon vulnerability being exploited, they can avoid any damage and prevent any personnal data leak the fastest they can, then have investigation procedures to find and patch said vulnerability.

this is exactly what CCP did, taking whole cluster offline to prevent data leaks, and search for the exploit, then patch it.

DDOS are often used to make such attack possible, either by "killing" a specific node (to replace it with a dummy one, mim style), or to divert attention away from the exploit being used, by drawning evidence in shittones of logs, maybe even preventing access to the servers du to them beaing overloaded.

and there are many many other possibilitys i will not describe here.

so i would say good job at CCP, yes, they "just" did their job, but still, they responded fast and efficiently, while cmmunicating to us during this whole event.

also R.I.P. coffee pot, you did your duty and died with honors, on the front line.

Haven't seen dedication to duty like CCP has shown in many places in the gaming world. Glad that things are back up. Free SP is not needed, your customer service is more than enough reward for me. You guys rock, and I'll be mailing y'all a coffee pot as soon as I look up the address for you guys.

As of 10:15 UTC today, Tranquility is back on line after an unexpected overnight downtime.

Our engineers have worked overnight to resolve the cause of the downtime, and we are currently monitoring the cluster to ensure that the issues which caused the situation are fully resolved.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this extended downtime has caused.

You can read more about what caused the problem in a statement from our Chief Operating Officer here.

I don't care what everyone else has been complaining about with this thread, and the previous one. I myself will say this.

Thank you for your hard work, especially on a Sunday to fix and block the DDoS attack.. Your work is appreciated, even if it's not stated very often. Now, tell your engineers to go get some sleep.

If the expansion is still deploying tomorrow, that SP better come before then. The FC char I'm skilling up has 16 hours left on Caldari Cruiser III and 1.2 mil SP's in Battlecruisers. I lost nearly twelve hours of training. Oops

And aaaaalll that is what I love about the EVE-Community...

People actually understand stuff. Just a few here are "hating"...
In other community the players are like "fuuu, bring the server online you noobs, it cant be that hard"
I guess it is... im not an IT guy, but I dont want to be one... Thanks for giving us good updates!

Faith in the gaming community defenetely restord... EVE-Community - I LOVE YOU :)
Thanks CCP, you're great.
Cant wait for the compensation for the time everybody (included CCP - reward your IT crew!) lost!

To use an analogy, the servers were kid napped by terrorists. Why should CCP owe us any compensation? Having said that, if they want to give us a freebie, I'm all for it!

Normally I'm the first to defend CCP, as I believe they do a fantastic job and we should all be hugely grateful for the work they do. That said, this does seem to be happening a little too often recently, and especially considering an expansion is landing tomorrow. Will there be any SP reimbursement, as whilst I've been (mostly) lucky with my accounts, an awful lot of people may have lost quite a lot of training time.
