My problem:
1: Launcher Broken, found launcher update, updated - now in OFFLINE MODE
2: Launched from BIN/exefile.exe - Server status incompatible (protocol)
3: Repair tool consistently reports "errors occurred".
4: Downloaded Chribba patch. Replaced the files in my appropriate folder - Launched from BIN/exefile.exe (avoided launcher)
SUCCESS!

At this point, I am considering deleting and redownloading the entire game file... it might be easier for me. I am more mechanically then technologically inclined.

If I could use duct tape, bailing wire, and a BFH to fix it, I'd be playing already.

Also... would a bonus remap be out of the question for the inconvenience of not getting to shoot rocks?

CCP, for the love of god please post something in this thread to tell us that you are working on the problem.

Our dev teams are indeed working on fixing the whole issue with top priority. Unfortunately in situations like these we cannot predict any ETA and giving a time frame would be very irresponsible. Be assured though that we are working as hard as possible to find a proper solution as fast as possible.

As CCP Guard pointed already to further background information in this news article and in that thread.

Please also accept our apologies for this unfortunate chain of events.

how about a rollback of the change?

Thank you for the straight forward work around you saved me skill time.

Not claiming to have a fully working fix here - but it worked for me patching up my other computers so if anyone want to try go for it.

Confirming that everything i've tried in past 2 hours didnt work, and Chribbas fix worked.

CCP should give this man a solarsystem of his choice and make in unconquerable.

You can go in the eve folder and run

- repair.exe
- exefile.exe

that will allow you to bypass the launcher for now and at least log in.

I had the same problem here, sifted through the details and chatter, and found something that worked for me.

I ran the launcher, it updated and then i received the "no internet connection"

Went into the games/eve/bin and ran the exe.file first, and performed the update.
Then I ran the repair tool. let it finish.
Then ran that .exe file again and was able to log in.

Seems like its just the new launcher. Like others, i was upset i had to do a workaround, but this was the easiest without a lot of other external downloads. Nothing against third party fixes though

YOU CAN GET AROUND THE LAUNCHER.

I just logged in after having the same issues.

First - Run the repair tool

Second - Navigate to and run the following EXE - CCP\EVE\Bin\ExeFile

Perhaps this info (Along with what CCP Guard has dropped in on the conversation) should be edited into the FIRST POST in the thread, so we don't need to click through endless pages and every blue post to see what the latest status is?

CCP Guard wrote:
We've put up a thread for possible workaround here as well: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238230&find=unread

Not that there's much to report that hasn't been covered in this thread. At the moment there's no solution that works for all use cases that we know of. What I can tell you is that that investigation into what is causing the massive load issues to our web servers is underway and we're not going home until this is fixed. We're really sorry for all the trouble.

Just sayin....

I added the information a while ago but forgot to actually push the "post" button ... Oops

Thank you for the notification!

I can launch the client from CCP/EVE/bin/exefile.exe, however it says "incompatible protocol". Any workarounds here?

Unbelievable!

1. First, new launcher failed to even launch. Couldn't read anything about it-didn't know why it failed.
2. Launched again after restart of computer. Noticed new info about new launcher.
3. Downloaded new launcher--FAIL.
4. Ran REPAIR tool---FAIL
5. Restarted computer and downloaded new version of REPAIR tool.
6. This time REPAIR tool worked, but ended up failing.
7. Thought "Thank goodness it left me an error log, that will help CCP."--FAIL no error log

STUCK and waiting. Will probably have to uninstall everything and try a re-install tomorrow, after CCP fixes things on their end.

CCP, I know you're all working on this. Perhaps it would be a good idea to set up some way to beta test things like this before rolling them out. Just a thought....

Life is short. Have fun.

This was released a little too early, no?

I mean nobody expected you to release this today, or was it like ''hey lets deal with this now before we get a even bigger nightmare on launch date''

If so you should provided a date of when you're deploying it...

Also at the risk of sounding like a broken record can I please have my login screen back?

this just worked for me after trying all things

Im in, i used the ExeFile.exe under "C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin"
1) Locate the folder where you installed EVE. If you are not sure where that folder is, see http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EVE_default_directories
2) From the EVE installation folder, open the folder called “bin” and there you will find the ExeFile.exe
3) Run this ExeFile.exe to start the EVE Online client

Run repair tool from command line with added switch: repair.exe --safemode
