really, how many "this was scripted" posts need to be made for you to own up?

30 dreads blaping a titan was a TAD obvious, but no counter attack? really?

I'm just mad no Gallente civilians on the planet got Doomsday'd. And I'm not even emotionally invested in either the Feds nor Statists. Hold a hostage at gunpoint, the cops spend 20 minutes barging down your door, you don't just kill the hostage?

From before the event even started people were saying the whole thing was scripted, and violaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa it was ******* scripted. What did you expect? CCP actually tell the truth to the players and tell us "no matter what you do the Titan will die". Oh but the marketing.

lol, yup, but so long as we win in dust, all the gallentes efforts were in vain

Doomsdays only work in nullsec, it's unlikely CCP wanted to mess with game mechanics just for a live event

-_-

so we would have been better off with 30 dreads of our own then?

Actually I like it this way better. That way the State can say they were all humanitarian and did not kill all those people. Instead they can rage against Gallente for endangering the civilians and causing the deaths and whatnot (look up Endor Extinction Event :P).

Black and white is too simple.

That's incredibly disingenuous as you can't call a kidnapper humanitarian if he decides not to kill his hostage. Mutually Assured Destruction isn't a black and white concept, but a morally grey one.

FFS.

At no point did anyone say the entire event revolved around the destruction or survival of the damned titan.

PEOPLE ASSUMED IT WAS.

oh look. They were wrong.

HTFU and get over it. The real event is the current battle on the ground and in space to determine the lore OWNER of the planet after the dust settles.

is that not obvious enough. you want to try to affect the end result, get out there and choose a side, don't sit here providing sweet tears due to a single aspect of the event being scripted.

Titan doomsdays are hardcoded not to work in high sec. There was no way we could used it without rewriting fundamental game code, something that wasn't feasible.

I assume creating a custom 'QA' item that imitates the function of a DDD without technically being one isn't a possibility?

Either way it was well presented overall. The State Navy lost and the point was made. :)

Exactly.

Why can't you create a dummy module that shows the DD fireworks then use your dev tools to make a Gallente Dread explode.

You know, a lot of people mistook the point of the event to be about the Titan. Including me. Did you guys anticipate that? There's been absolute silence since the last news post, for a long time now.

so....why didn't the caldari get a dread blob then? seems it would have been more effective for holding a planet hostage then a ship that is incapable of using the one thing it exists for, shooting a doomsday weapon at anything stupid enough to poke it Big smile

EDIT: thank you for respondingBig smile

They used RP to show the DD firing instead.
and allowed it to target subcaps.

be happy that they did that at all rather than just saying 'CONCORD stopped it working'

also, she was keeping the DD ready to fire at the planet in the case of her loss. it was the capsuleers in the battle that apparently stopped her from cracking the crust of Caldari Prime as her last act.

So. if nothing else, the fact that the Caldari still have a 'home' to fight for is in the hands of those who were defending the planet against the orders of an insane executor and his provist lackeys.

Exactly. This is the problem everyone is having with RP in EVE. To create RP magic you need to be able to trust the GMs to bend the laws of physics, in this case hardcoded system mechs. For a game loosely styled on MtG they've not been able to take the exceptions to the rules far enough.

I've enjoyed the events so far. All three of my bods were involved in some way. From populating the Luminare market with ammo only to have a State alt buy it all up( ... that was a big deal btw) to the frustration of getting locked out of Luminaire and having perceived vital storyline courier missions impeded, on to scrapping with hostiles on the gates along side Fed Navy brethren.
You make your own game.

Sure there are tonnes of things I'd have done differently, but I'm not running the show, I'm taking part in it.

Letting the plot slip on test servers is a big no no tho, I guess you don't need to be told that.

Normally I don't reply, but was the CONCORD BS not DD?

Was even in local, DD cooling down.....

Sorry, but please explain that then.
