Team Super Friends need to be split up like the bunch of naughty school kids they are. I'm assuming you got your kids to design the unified inventory on 'bring your child to work day'

When I'm in space I have my cargo hold as a nice small window bottom left of the screen. Now when I undock it's splashed across the screen, so I resize and even then I have the stupid menu taking up half the window. Dock resize, undock, resize. You see how it goes.

8 accounts not being renewed until this is fixed and I have never felt like that before. 10/10 for peeing off your customer base, 0/10 for doing something useful.

Read her post again... Team Super Friends disavows all knowledge of the inventory system. lol

Since you made some major changes to the datacores, it would only be fair to give the chance to those who invested time in those skills to refund their skills. When you decide to train datacore skills + grinding the standings, you base that decision on the parameters set by CCP. Those parameters are changed, so you should give us a chance to change our mind based on the new conditions.

The new inventory system sucks... BIG time... in so many ways I can't be bothered to enumerate them all (thanks to those that have tried)... the biggest deal breaker for me is looting wrecks, which works horribly now... and that stupid window opening and closing on its own every time I dock/undock or jump system is... well, I would laugh if it wasn't so pathetic and annoying...

Shame on you CCP for thinking it's ok to release this kind of crap upon us and (maybe) fix it later... I'm not sure what to do about it yet, but you may have lost a customer here, playing EVE has suddenly become an annoyance instead of something interesting and fun...

Have fun those of you that like the new inventory system. I'm happy for you and really hope the reason you like it is not because you haven't had to use it much yet...

I can't drag and drop items from cargo to floating containers if they're nested in the same window.

e.g.

  • pop out a jet-can in space
  • click on it to open it
  • swear loudly that it steals focus and has replaced your cargo hold
  • re-open cargo hold
  • swear loudly that it has closed the previously open container
  • shift-click cargo hold - move and resize window
  • shift-click container - drag window onto title bar of cargo hold, dock as a nested window... cool
  • drag item from cargo to container name tab in nested window... nothing.
  • swear loudly
  • undock nested window to a seperate window
  • drag item from hold window to container window
  • success!
  • buy 70 inch monitor to accomodate amount of shift clicked indivdual windows required

Jet-can mining, in-space resupply and POS operations are seriously annoying with this window behaviour.

:(

Not to mention salvaging or anytime you have to open an array of windows.

If there is some secret ways to use this new system that are highly efficient, I'd sure like to know about them. But nobody from the UI team is in here posting with any insights.

Really hating the new inventory thing. Where'd my corp hanger button go?

I have no idea how to move items in/out of my corp hangers What?

This is fk'd up, CCP.

/time to shoot the Jita monument... now, where's my damn ammo?

Edit: realized the drag between sections 'kinda' works. it's awkward though because sometimes the tree collapses :/

Click, Drag and Hover over them, it will expand after one second.

Seconded, would like return to previous system. At least make this mess optional for the Mac users that designed it.

I did like that containers are shown as trees.. that's nice, and something I was wanting. Unfortunately no actions are possible for an item when it's IN a container (e.g. Manufacturing for Blueprints), and the tree view is not shown under the 'Corporation->Assets' view. So close and yet so far..

The General Settings->'Merge Items and Ships into Station Panel' is a really helpful semi-workaround at present, thanks to who suggested that.

If that isn't bad enough I just foolish undocked an Orca, used to be I had a small window for hold/corp hangers/ore hold/ship bay now I have to look at each 1 at a time. Clearly CCP thought that too much of an eye strain.

Shift click the things you want in their own window. What's so bloody hard about that?

Welcome to the sandbox, nothing is guaranteed. Should CCP have refunded everyone's tech 1 frigate skills when they redid all their attributes with the patch?

On another note, the ability to rename corp hangers and SMAs is desperately needed. The new inventory window shows them all as the same name. Support for naming the pos mods appears to exist(right click > Set Name) appears but it just gives an "Unable to name this kind of pos mods" error.

When you leave a POS the silo inventory windows default to cargo bay window - instead of auto-closing as before. Are rat wreck cans acting the same way???

Shift-Click is also used to select multiple items, that makes the shortcut somewhat inconvenient.

The Unified Inventory system has a bunch of nice features when managing all your goodies.

Unfortunately that is only one use-case of inventory windows as others have pointed out

I note that generally "universal" interaction design solutions are very hard to do well when dealing with many disparate use-cases. Such as the many things players do with inventory;

  • different sizing & positioning of ship cargo windows for types of op (combat/hauler/salvager/miner)
  • different sizing & positioning inventory windows for loot vs cargo
  • PoS management
  • ... and more

And IMO it's a no-brainer these settings need to be remembered on a ship-by-ship basis, as i believe they were, and that they should be preserved on re-docking.

In summary while it's nice for the one use-case of managing all your stuff, IMO it fails at the myriad of other use-cases that are more time-sensitive due to the pilot being floating around in space at the time.

I don't miss the EVE UI from 2 years ago and the bucket of eyestrain that went with it, but in terms of interaction design & usability i feel CCP continue to make retrograde steps. And this makes bob sad Sad

PS What happened to the promise of being able to align the neocom (which still makes me curse every time i run a mission) to the bottom or top of the screen?

Sorry CCP, the new inventory thing is horrible, why cant it be optional?

Because although you like to think that we play the game, actually CCP likes to play the game with us to see how we respond. Rats in a maze...
