Unless they are buying seeded minerals I'd say you aren't the brightest bulb on the tree.

He is quite right, miners are not industrialists.

It's quite simply the worst thread ever.

addendum: indeed mining is only a small part of the REAL Industrialists time. But they will never understand the distinction because apparently all mining is 'bad'. Also, a noob mining for hours on end for ISK in an Osprey is one thing, a 2 year old toon in a Mack out for 23 hours a day is another.

I am considered an industrialist, but I have never lost a ship to Hulkageddon. I understand the rules of the sandbox, what is going on, and what to do to avoid getting swept up in it. I've spent several hours in my Hulk this weekend mining a very nice Omber Grav site for future production in a fairly high-traffic area (research agent, one jump from an ice belt). I check D-scan often and always aligned. Please stop crying that the world should change for you, please evolve or die.

(note the site is still pretty full in Hanodoo but will probably pop in the next 36 hours on a timer)

Sorry... I've not lost any but thought I'd poast anyway.

Not because there hasn't been attempts against my beautiful mining ships. But maybe because I've been a little more observant and a little less active during Hulkageddon. Add a little luck in the mix and we be cooking with allspice.

Come to think of it.... I don't think I've ever lost a Hulk in the 5 years I've been playing.

I let someone borrow one and he never gave it back, does that count as being ganked?

Good luck and I hate it for the 5000+ miners who've lost their pretty shiney Hulkies/mining barges.

Exactly. It's not that hard. My main only has lost ships (once...a Mack) outside of H'geddon.

I actually built a bunch of Coveters this year expecting to get popped because I was making dinner or something... nothing happened. I even have a couple mining battleships prepped that are just sitting in the dock rusting... er... well they are Minmitar ships.. um.. anyhow... I understand the days of AFK mining are, not dead but, severely wounded.

Then again, so long as people shed tears for Hulkgeddon I know that I will survive. You don't need to be the fastest, just faster than the other guy.

I lost my hulk within days of returning to EVE recently, and to be blunt I nearly cancelled the credit card authority to CCP.

Go and look at the thread under the CSM area discussing proposed changes to the Highsec engagement rules to try to retain new / returning players.

Note with significance the point made that EVE is not a pvp game. It is a space simulator, which has pvp in it. The OP is correct: there are many people who play without the slightest wish to pvp, and but for low and null-sec players being SO DAMN BORED in low / null-sec that they decided to reinvent Hulkageddon (which concept is older than they are, to be honest) many players had a genuine no-pvp gentle gamestyle. That is gone, and there is a serious risk that along with it those players will go too.

For all those thinking that the OP is talking about attacking Goonswarm, you're not thinking correctly. Much more likely it is that the social players will create the Mining Cartel again, and the Cartel will favour the Russians who have had the honour to prefer to pvp against people who have a chance to win. Or perhaps mass subscription cancellations, however I suspect that will happen anyway due to the rules and ship design being so screwed up that mining in Highsec is more dangerous than being a wanted murdererous outlaw.

I think miners need to be divided up into two groups. The 1% (if that), that actually understand the game, and fit a proper tank and know when to gtfo, and the 99+% that are absolute morons that need to be locked in a station-less system full of goons.

On the flip side of course, we do need to keep a handful around, because the incredibly stupid **** they post does sometimes give a good laugh. Whats next OP? You going to try and convince us that downtime is actually a plot to let gankers get in position without you seeing?

It is so funny. Posts like these always draw the same string of "people" (I use that term loosely) saying the exact same things. It's like a Who's Who of ASPD Sufferers. I wonder if they realize how long they've been repeating themselves believing they just thought of something cool.

I didn't lose an industrial. I just had to say that. Sorry.
