as far as I remember kara only spoke about mores so far which is a fairly objective concept (that is no concerned with better or worse).

With as answer to that "I had no decent way to react". But he did have a way to down talk and mock people stating their opinion of his miss-step. So he did have the means to react to a lot of post, but no way to apologize straight away ....

And to then use the excuse of "I was drunk" is even more lame. We all are responsible for our own actions whatever the state we helped our selfs into.

He wanted a CSM seat where he would be scrutinized, and if you then go make statements that could affect people and their life outside the game. Don't be surprised people will have an opinion of it and it might become a bigger storm than one expected.

We all make mistakes, but it's how we deal with and solve them that shows the person you are!

The 'deal with it' was in response to people who were complaining about him being drunk and foul mouthed on stage, which is all people were complaining about at first(took a few days for most people to realize what he said in his later comment hat named our oblivious little friend).

When he finally REALIZED what he said, he came out with the apology.

This is why I never allow cameras of any sort near me when I am getting intoxicated... One too many embarrassing pics have turned up(thank god that was all before the internet was a thing).

To me this seems to have been blown out of all proportions. I do wonder how many people posting have actually took the time to watch the incident.

This now seems to be a witch hunt for mittens and I do wonder how many players care about the character he "bullied" or are just taking an opportunity to get him out of the game.

The most sensible post I have read is from someone who has actually experienced depression and having been close to someone who suffered from clinical depression I totally agree:

Quote:
Valerius Anthar wrote:
I'd like to chime in on this.

I suffer from clinical depression. It varies in severity based on circumstances and the given day, and will pretty much be with me for the rest of my days. I don't keep it under control by bitching and whining about it online, I do it through a mixture of happy pills, exercise, willpower, a good diet, work and routine. I have to agree with Simi that the casual use of suicide as an attention seeker or threat, especially online, only reinforces the stigma about depression not being a disease but a character "defect". People who do this trivialize what isn't trivial, and he/she deserves the abuse they received.

Ultimately, when I was at my zenith, only I could pull myself out. Only I can beat back what Churchill called "the black dog." I will graciously accept the help of family and friends but in the end it's my responsibility to manage my depression and keep buggering on. What I will not do is attempt to guilt trip others, especially strangers, into feeling sorry for me. That is simply pathetic.

Start wide, expand further, and never look back

They won't remove him because CCP, to my knowledge, has no real power to do so because he was fairly elected. This situation at the panel has absolutely no bearing on the CSM what-so-ever. Those that are making it an issue are those that were butt hurt that Mittens has so much support, and the fact that he won and they are jealous about it.

CCP should merely chat ban him or some other sort of short period administrative type ban at the extreme.

No he should be permanently banned and I will do everything in my power to see thi happens as CCP have chosen to be complicite in this harrsement and life threatening behaviour Sorry

Permanently banned. Really? Ok, so lets say I heard you make a racial joke while drunk, then told your boss about it and your boss fired you and made sure you would never be able to get a job for the rest of your life, you would be ok with that?

That would be a terrible precedent, it would mean that for real life threats of murder, death, beatings ect.. you get an administrative ban. Thats a tad on the weak side isn't it?

Damn, didn't know there was this much titan pilots in eve.

Seriously tho, this 'scandal' doesn't warrant anything more than a sincere apology. Considering that the alleged victim wasn't even aware of being 'bullied' until it got media coverage and someone had to actually link him to the sites.

If anything, the press is more to blame for taking something that was in fact meant as a joke (however inappropriate it may have been) and turning it into something more.

You all know that guy in high school, when someone swears at you, he goes 'Oooo son, you gonna let him say that 'bout your mama!?'

You didn't see the event but you want him to resign? That is the nature of the mob.

Sometimes the few or even the one must be sacrificed to serve a greater good. I didn't watch the alliance roundtable because in the beginning many of them were clearly drunk thus I do believe it was the alcohol talking. I didn't think anything good would come of listening to a bunch of drunks is why I didn't listen to it, I have though seen the snippet in question since. If CCP doesn't remove him from the CSM they'll be crucified by the overly liberal media. EVE could become the Dungeons & Dragons of the 21st century, where D&D was largely preached against etc in the later part of the 20th century, because of a few. That damage could undo the good they've done since Crucible.

I'm not sure where The Mitanni is using "I was drunk" to excuse his actually saying what he said in this OP. Perhaps you should reread it before posting again?

Not remembering what he said because he was drunk is not an excuse for his behavior, it's an explanation for why he didn't apologize earlier as he did not actually see or remember the words he said at the panel until he saw an article.

Edit: Oh wait, he specifically says it's not an excuse!

The Mittani wrote:

I'm relieved to discover that the Mackinaw miner is doing fine and mining away, despite being blown up by Goonswarm in-game. He deserves, and he has, my heartfelt apologies - here in public as well as a private apology. There's no excuse for what I did - while some might try to use my inebriation as a mitigating factor, I put myself in that compromised mental state, and the guilt of that is entirely mine.

So yeah, stop putting words in people's mouths or stop posting, k?

It would have to be taken in the context it was given, plus the input of the aggrieved person. In this, the dude didn't care, at all. I wanted to say that it would be an extreme to get any sort of ban but I'm tired and it came out wrong.

The funny thing is, nothing will happen to him. He tries to get some guy to commit suicide, blames it on the bear, writes a small smoothly written apology, and gets 500 sheeple responses of "OH I LOVE YOU SO MUCH ITS OK IF THAT GUY DIES!".

/shrug

How CCP reacts to this shows whether they condone this level of behavior or not. If they do, at least we'll know what folks can get away with in EVE. Pushing for RL violence and death will become an acceptable tactic for dealing with your enemy.

President Obama had a slip during a private moment talking to Medvedev, the Russian Prime Minister. So should President Obama lose his job right now because of it? No, that's absurd.

The same can be said, not literally of course the situations are different, of Mittani.

Good grief, that's the least thing the man has done. If he'd been white instead of black he'd been impeached over a year ago for flagrant violations of his Oath of Office. But because he's the first black president (well he's actually only half black but...) the Congress doesn't have the will to hold him accountable for anything.

Don't think we suppose to talk politics here though so I'll end it at that in response to yours.
