CSM The Mittani's Misconduct Calls for Resignation - We Did It!

After watching the actual recording of the alliance panel I have to say, you guys are making a big ******* mountain out of a mole hill.

It's not like he brought THAT evemail and ONLY that evemail for the sole purpose of calling this person out. The guy clearly played the sympathy card. He got juked by the goons repeatedly. Deservedly so. But calling for his 'resignation' isn't warranted or even logical here.

Harden the **** up is all I really can say to this.

Just adding my two-isk worth:

Impeach The Mittani, because his statement was completely unacceptable and will tarnish the entire CSM program so long as he is a part of it.

And yes, inciting harassment for the purpose of causing someone to commit suicide is illegal in many countries, and could open up CCP, a studio with customers all around the world, to legal action in any of those countries. Such laws take harassment literally and seriously. There is no, "it was just a joke," if someone does end up hurt irl.

Neither. This is nothing more than a campain by angry people bitter about mittani getting on the seat again and bitter at changes being made to the game they see as benefiting goons. If not this then they would have picked some other drunken antic mittens got up to.

Elsebeth Rhiannon wrote:
I do not think after eight years of playing anyone can accuse me of not knowing what EVE is about and blahdeblahdeblah. I also have nothing whatsoever against people playing it hard in the game. Hell, I am not above confessing that one of my best memories of EVE are about pirates crying about how unfair it is that we choose to shoot them just because they shoot other people, which is a totally VALID playstyle and who are WE to ruin it for them by unfairly making them explode. Twisted

That said, as I have stated elsewhere, I find The Mittani's behavior in this incident completely unacceptable. This is not a case of one player playing it hard with another, this is a case of a chairman of a representative body of the community abusing that position to harass an individual member of said community.

I am afraid if The Mittani is allowed to continue in the CSM, I will no longer consider it morally acceptable to give CCP my money.

And yea, I am sure the Goonies don't need me to enjoy the game, as the gentleman couple of posts back points out. Do I care? No. If CCP rather makes this game for people who think that the behavior of The Mittani was just fine and acceptable, by all means. Let them; their call.

For what its worth Elsebeth I really hope it doesn't come to you leaving this game. And before any goons do the whole "lol whats one ex rp'er left matter" spiel - the reality is that a player like Elsebeth who helps build a unique and different alliance from most does matter in the grand of scheme of things because it helps define eve as a varied and thriving political landscape rather than a uniform (and abusive) playground full of silly children.

I personally think this issue could be resolved by Mittani making a full and honest apology for bringing the CSM into disrepute and I'd prefer that to seeing 10,000 voters (however misguided they might be) disenfranchised for the foolishness of their representative.

But where I do agree with you Elsebeth is that there is a line of behaviour that shouldn't be crossed in real life and at some point its neccessary to step back and realize behind everything we're all human beings playing a game together and the public mocking of somebody like the evidently vulnerable mining barge guy by the leader and representative of the CSM is simply not on. There is a responsibility one accepts when running for CSM to represent the game in a good light in public spotlight and drunkenly mocking some poor unfortunate on stage at Fanfest is not what the alliance panel is supposed to be about either.

Its crass, its childish, its frankly stupid.

And regardless of partizan internet nerdery I'd like to think that most of the goons are still perceptive enough to realize that it doesn't do the game any good to be seen as a cess pit for inhumane behaviour ooc on stage at the eve convention.

Alex's only crime during the Fanfest panel was being not funny.

I don't like him and would have cast my 5 votes against him if CCP had given me that option (but unfortunately, CCP sucks.) Not because he scams, or is an ass, or because I'm butthurt, but because the CSM chair should be someone like Mynxee, who acts professionally and cares about the game, not a narcissistic, aging, trust fund frat boy.

That being said, his behavior was well known before the election. He won an overwhelming victory. This behavior is nothing new and should come as no surprise to anybody. If CCP punishes him now, they're a bunch of hypocrites.

I'm kind of curious. In the United States, if a lawyer were found to be this insulting towards someone, knowing full well that they were claiming thoughts of suicide and were claiming they'd go through with it, the lawyer would be having a little ol' BAR hearing if it was found out the lawyer acted improperly (i.e., insulting him and pushing him to actually perform the action of taking his own life). I'm rather curious as to how much it will suck for you if your local BAR (or whatever) found out...

The Mittani is retired.

LOL retired is how Americans say disbarred ?

I don't think that there will be much left of this 'career'. The media is involved. Right at the moment of this post, it's only MMO-news sites. But as cyber-bullying has been a tragic issue for some time now, the major outlets will likely have articles on it as well. Politicial attention will be gained, and not favorably.

This is all going to happen if nothing further occurs. And we hope that the cyberbully victim does get help, heals and is able to work out a better path of life for himself.

I'd be interested to see the regulations that control what a lawyer can say while he is on vacation. Link please?

Actually depending upon the state you can get disbarred for behavior... Not in the capacity of doing your job. Like you can't even take the bar exam if you have prior records etc etc.

I say go old school and let em punch it out in 9 rounds of bar knuckle boxing... Couple O pasty nerds going at it.
