How come the web site can remember my password but the client can't?

Ironic as it may sound but the "Remember me" checkboxes on account user/password fields are actually more likely to be forgotten. It may help the computer remember it but it increases the likeliness that YOU will forget it. Best way to remember your passwords, type them in every time yourself. The lazy option is also the most forgetful :)

I tend to write them down in a pwd book. I seriously doubt someone's gonna bust into my house and learn Anglo Saxxon Runic Alphabet to get my passcodes for MMOs

I worked at a Lowe's once and broke my clock in password so bad they had to remove me from the computer and reenter me by making it three spaces

"Is it fair that CCP can get away with..." :: checks ownership on the box ::

Yes

Anyone who can access your computer that would touch you in such places already is touching you.

Been using remember password on WoT for well over a year now...

O snap no one has hacked my account!

Just CCP being lazy... I would really like a remember password button...

I happen to know exactly how to get remote access to your pc ( if i wanted to, but i am civilized, so i don't ).
There are lots of people capable of doing that.

Edit: just because it has never happened to you ( yet at least ), doesn't mean it can't and i think CCP is very wise, not to implement such a feature for this reason, what you choose to do with your browser is a different story, but that's not something CCP has control over.

Please do try, cause all the routers, firewalls, clsoed ports... your lack of an IP addy, etc etc... REALLY is gona get you remote access lol...

Again world of tanks... who has WAY more players than eve... has a remember password tick box... they have yet to remove it...

Can't be all that bad now can it?

Also if you can get remote access you can install a key logger that would give you the PW anyways... so your whole point is moot.

TBH at this point, it is better that CCP has the remember PW tick box, as I would not need to type it in and the only way you could do anything would be VIA remote access... rather than getting my PW...

Any other dumb things you want to say? rofl.

It would be nice.

And really, if someone was able to sneak malware (of the type that could read your password out of the Eve folder) onto your PC then they could have just put a keylogger there instead.

Most annoying thing of the week: You failed to dock/jump because you are cloaked (in your Deep Space Transport).

Go away Mr. Brainfart and come back with arguments.

Because of neutral reppers.

I thought it was because of falcon.

Because of cloaky booster Tengus?

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

If the concept I've presented is too complex for you I doubt I can dumb it down any further without resorting to pictures for the big words.

And I bet your argument is based on the believe of security and you really do not know anything else about it. I am pretty certain that all you have to say is going to be a brainfart.

I'd like to be able to log in with my ssh public key. Easy, portable and about as secure as anything going (certainly better than typing a password), but games never support it.

I'm sure CCP will add a "remember account info" checkbox at some point.

They used to have this option as a setting in the prefs file. It was then removed. This was a few years ago now though.

Doesn't make me forget. I have a set of standard passwords that I use. They're all pretty complicated so there's no way I could have a unique password for everything. What I do is have a set of 5 passwords. I use different passwords for related things so they can't fail cascade. For example the e-mail account I use for my Eve accounts has a different password than my Eve accounts. That way if my Eve password is compromised they can't go into account management to find out my e-mail address and get into that too. I used the same password for similar accounts so I know which of the 5 passwords goes with what. I have an e-mail password, a game password, a communication password for Ventrilo, IM and stuff like that, etc. If someone forgets their password it's their fault, not a checkbox's.

That doesn't sound very safe, nor desirable in a lot of cases.

Your addy? I'm sorry, you're posting on this forum right now.......... besides, how hard is it to spell address?

Closed ports? there's always something that has to be open, so it's also only a matter of time ( very little time even ) before those are found.

A firewall? yeah, that must do the trick..... not really.
