can't find mission target in overview anymore

Hi,

i just finished the tut missions, and started the "balancing the books" mission, now the 2nd one.

i accepted the mission, installed the civil salvager, undocked, saw a yellow target in the overview, clicked approach.

so far so good ;)


but, the yellow target disappeared from the overview, and now i have absolutely no idea how to find the object i'm looking for.


on a side note, this also happened when i tried to do the first military mission.


uhm, when i started approaching the target, i right-clicked it ant chose "orbit target", to see what might happen.

the overview is in default mode.

This is a bit unclear.

You undocked. But did you warp to the mission area? Im sure theres wrecks and cargo containers etc out infront of the station.

Usually anything you'll see in your overview for missions will be white, weather it be containers or wrecks. Yellow stuff belongs to other people. Or if a player or NPC targets you they'll get a flashing yellow HUD around them that will turn red if they activate an offensive module on you.

So if yellow stuff is disappearing randomly from your overview it probably means you interacted with it, and either you salvaged something, which Im pretty sure you cant salvage normal wrecks with the civilian salvager, or you looted a yellow can and if its empty it vanishes.

PS if this was caused by you looting a yellow can. Dont do that again, If you loot a yellow can or wreck the person it belongs to can shoot you with complete impunity for 15 minutes.

Dont forget to warp to your mission area there shouldn't be any yellow stuff there.

Gods know what the overview default is these days but sounds like you just saw another player with a low security status that warped off.
Don't shoot or loot anything yellow in highsec, you will get killed. Red things are bad and can be shot, but try avoiding shooting red players, you'll likely end up dead as well.

As above said, warp to your mission, and if all else fails, reset overview or use my epic overview settings.
