I've killed so many hundreds of miners.... they all kind of blend together in a faceless, crying mass.
But when I spotted six 2003 characters haplessly mining Ice in Brapalille, my ganker sense tingled.

Five Mackinaws with Orca support, faction fit, yet still badly fit, EXP hole. All easily within Smartbomb range.

Buck Futz (Suddenly Violence) is blessed with maxed-out Smartbomb skills, so I called him in for this one and provided a fully fit Discophoon. With only one Phoon in an 0.7 system - I figured it would be close, but that 'ragged' 4th heavy cap-boosted SB volley would do the trick.

So, prespawned Concord safely off-grid, then provided Buck a good tight cloaked warp-in.
Result?
A fantastic, 9.5+ Billion ISK mess in 22.5 seconds flat.

5x dead faction fit Macks - 850M

Aaaaand.....Clone replacement: 325M

And these guys weren't just any carebears....but some of the oldest carebears in the game!

Victim convoed me, and a post-gank chat revealed:

-he participated in the beta testing and started some of his chars on day 1.
-3 of them had never been podded before, because he spends 90% of his time in highsec.
-doesn't like blowing things up 'because he knows how much work it takes to make things'
-didn't know about killboards.
-did not understand 'how a -10 pilot could attack him' in highsec! (lol)
-No tears, other than a 'confused, how/why did you do that' sentiment....but I didn't expect them. Anyone who has played since 2003 has both ample ISK reserves and a sense of perspective about getting ganked.)

Kind of amazing how people can play this game for nearly a decade - and still not understand how it works.
But when you spend it all running LVL 4's, manufacturing and ice mining - I suppose it limits your exposure.

Maybe not as cool as TEARS killing Chribba,
but killing over 9.5B in assets for a single 80M ISK Typhoon....? Money well spent.
Oh wait, with the drops and T2 salvage, its was actually kind of profitable. My mistake.

Carebears beware!

EDIT: Sorry for the ugly hyperlinks - CCP still can't be bothered to fix their broken forums. "There was an issue with parsing this posts BBC code'. Bring back the old forums!!!! Oh, and math fail!

I think someone wants attention. And its not the carebear.

Yeah, got to agree with that. I have come to the conclusion flashing killmails around is like showing off for attention just to get people to look at...a gamer score. Its so awesome...that gamer score...its like clicking 3 buttons (in the case of EVE, no complex combos like Mortal Combat) and suddenly *holds thumbs up* THIS GUY!!! expects everyone to act the part of a groupie and give him a blowjob Roll.

I honestly don't care about the ganking, just ******* tied of all the glamour about someone else's belief they are awesome!!1!!1! in a videogame by flashing killmails around. Just rack them up and let someone else look at it, don't have to go bragging about a gamer score that certainly does not get you laid like a rockstar everynight Roll.

As for hulks, don't ******* stop. I much prefer to the smartbomb battleships and pod popping...just keep it up year round at the level of hulkageddon. You don't need a special event, just up the effort 125% to make it ******* miserable for miners. Heck, would love to see CCP nerf the tank to make it even easier and implement SP loss with destruction of the ships just to punish miners for chosing a terrible profession and at the same time gankers loss SP (basicly, all ships act like T3 when destroyed Twisted).

Well done sir. Also props to the 2003 char for not crying, he really showed his maturity.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

5x t2 (mackinaw) wrecks to salvage = almost certainly reasonable T2 salvage.

The implants were extremely expensive. Its 150-190 hours for the whole group + an orca to replace the macks and implants by ice mining. Which may be 2-3 months of playtime for the victim, especially if he also needs to generate some plexes in that time.

Kill mails are a Trophy to be placed on KB's to see what that person is good at killing. He's clearly a pro at popping people in highsec who think highsec is and should be safe when in reality its not. Because gankers are a reminder of the true evil paths one can take through this game. Eve is a game about freedom of choice. If you want to murder somebody your free to do it. He also doesn't give a crap if he loses isk for a kill. He's paying for a kill mail. Pretty fair to me. Most people are too busy not playing the game worrying about losing a ship. Gankers don't care they are like honey badgers they keep on and on and on. At least they have the balls to lose 100 mil isk on a lost cause. Loss loss for both side besides getting some loot, salvage, a kill mail, and the tears.

Pretty sure this is the result of all the miners tears cus they mad broz and sisz!

But I can say I use to be a real pirate and a 0.0 as well as a w-space liver. Because if you go back far enough I have the KM's to prove it. Problem most people have is they judge a book by their cover and assume the wrong things. Most people are too damn lazy to go past several pages of kills and think they are all talk. Most people don't get the respect the deserve. At least hes truthful about what he does. But he is no joke, he is one of the best hulk murderers I ever seen.

Don't hate hes just a murderer and only us pirates understand his outlaw ways.

I use to be a real pirate until I took a carebear to the knee... not afraid to admit that. But I will not lie I use to be good at PVPing. Now I am not so sure cus its been a long time and we all can get rusty. Damn getting a higher education kills your gamer skills but gives you a real life. Just totally stop hating on ppl. XDD

Are you sure it was four cycles and 22 seconds? That seems a long time for a .7 system.
/edit: Ok, regarding the damage done that must be four cycles. Impressing!

With Smartbomb V trained (can't remember the skill name) you cycle every 7.5 seconds.

With Meta 1 Smartbombs, you deal 2400 damage a cycle against their weakest resist.

In 0.7, with Concord pre-spawned someplace else, you have 14 seconds.

So, 2400 damage at 0.
4800 damage at 7.5 seconds.
7200 at 15 seconds.
and 9600 at 22.5 seconds.

I estimated that those targets had around 8000 EHP.

Concord starts neuting you around 14 seconds, but the show isn't over yet: to get those 'extra' volleys off:
(this stuff is fairly well known, of course, though kind of surprised there isn't more whining about it. ie: WAH, No Fair! Smartbombs should be deactivated when Concord arrives!!!!1111)

-Fit Typhoon with 4x T1 Heavy Boosters, load them with 800s. (4 charges each)
-Before the gank I overheat them (for faster cycles).
-Once all the Smart bombs are activated, I start activating the heavy boosters, one every few seconds. This way, you have a steady flow of power to your capactior and you can easily get several more SB activations while Concord is destroying your ship.

Incidentally, stuff like this is why I'd always be against replacing 'NPC Concord' with a 'Crimewatch ray of death' in 'x' seconds.
A death ray would have made this op impossible without an additional battleship (which was unavailable at the time).

Herr Wilkus,

As much as I despise you for your previous announcement of your intentions to let bots flurish, I have to at least give you credit for a successful gank with a smartbomb battleship and for just being lucky that you managed to bag some very expensive implants.

Other than that, I hope you change your mind and continue ganking bots in addition to players rather than just let bots frolic freely.

Yes, I remember your old thread.

Thus: I plan to do my utmost to 'encourage' young mining carebears to quit the game via selective, predatory ganking.
Effective immediately, all operations, reports, and petitions against mining botters will cease. No more 'padding' the KB with my new 'artificial friends'. In my view, mining bots are actually beneficial: They flood the market with minerals/ice and significantly depress 'real miner' earnings.
