People who play WoW are just murderous, ticking time bombs apparently.

It seems the most dangerous thing in society isn't a raging meth habit or a loaded Uzi, but a level 53 gnome.

What is it with these right wingers that are happy to have guns in the house, but fear a PC like its a stoked hang grenade.

This is what right wingers scrawl when their childhood is chock full of unhappy memories of no one wanting to play with them.

people like to latch onto an easy, safe explanation for why a tragedy happens. It allows them to avoid the real, painful reasons that would cause something like this. It just so happens that the one thing killers have in common is having a computer or video game console. What they refuse to realize though, is that most households in the industrialized world have these things.

tl;dr people want an easy explanation, and don't want to admit when they are wrong. (this actually could apply to a lot of forum people around here)

edit: alternately, some people just have an axe to grind and will do whatever it takes to grind that axe. much like forum people here.

I dont agree with you saying it's simply because that guy is a "right winger", I believe it has more to do with an older population that doesnt understand, and basically fears, things that are "new" and "strange". That includes computer games, outer space, and other things they are ignorant about because they haven't experienced them firsthand or haven't grown up with them as a fact of life. It comes from right wingers, left wingers, any winger, really. It will also happen to you when you get older.

If he was American, Andrew Bolt would probably be viewed as fairly mainstream.

But I can tell you that Bolt gets a lot of people here in Australia quite angry with some of his right-wing rants. And he's been successfully sued in the past.

Having said that, I quite enjoy his columns. There's only one thing I hate more than far-right nutters and that's anything left of centre. Bolt often does a tidy job of putting these clowns back in their boxes. Big smile
