So I finally got my cruiser and decided to get an Arbitrator because it appealed to me and wanted something a bit different and versatile but I'm having trouble fitting it.

So far I've got

High slot
2x Medium pulse laser I
Salvage I
small tractor beam I

Med slot
2x DDO photometry tracking disruptor
10MN Afterburner I
--

Low slot
Medium Armour repairer I
Power diagnostic system I
2x Armour kinetic hardener I

Drone bay
5X Hobgoblin I
5X Hammerhead I

I don't know if this is terrible or not but I could really really do with someone's advice :(
Thank you

It's good but you don't really need the TD's. To many low dmg NPC guns to be effective. Cap recharges will serve you better by keeping your tank running. The Power diagnostic system could also be replaced with an EANM, Hardener, Cap Power Relay or Damage Control. If you have money and skill for say CCC Rigs that wouldn't be a bad thing.

You should also explore using Meta modules where cost effective.

Right, I've taken the TD's off and replaced them with 2 Barton reactor capacitor rechargers.
I'll look into the rigs as well, need to skill up a few things first.
Thanks a lot

Swap the PDS for another resist mod (damage control or hardener / eanm, whatever), swap some highs for NOS if you need more cap stability. I was gonna say swap the non-prop mids to cap rechargers, but it looks like you've already done it.

If this is a PVE fit

Try using the drone upgrade modules it is not like the guns are going to the majority of the damage anyhow.

Drone link augumentor
Drone navigation computer to make them move faster and similar

also consider cap injected setups

You only need 1 gun to draw aggro. Your drones are where your DPS comes from. Drone Link Augmentor for extra drone line, drone Nav computer (arguably) for more speed.

Make sure that you have a small remote armour rep in your high slots in case something unexpected happens with aggro and your drones start getting hit - while they are MWD-ing around they are very vulnerable.

Using the AB Arb to salvage is slower than coming back in a Coercer setup with 4x tractors and 4x salvagers and a MWD. I would recommend losing the salvager but keep the tractor beam for when you have to retrieve an object in a can 20km away.

Your lows should be all tank with 1 Medium Armour Rep (and a Damage Control is Almost always good too!). Fit whatever hardeners are relevant to the mission at hand, rather than trying to just close your biggest hole. For example, Blood Raiders only do EM and Thermal damage, so even though the Arb is vulnerable to Explosive and Kinetic damage, you will never get hit in these holes while fighting blood raiders. On the other hand, you will want to buff your EM and thermal resists. Google the rats you face to check what type of damage they inflict.
