Why could (or indeed can) ISD members convo you automatically without your permission?

Following on from my other thread where this was raised (OK, I raised it - https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=96484&find=unread ), why do ISD members have to ability to drag you into a chat room immediately without your consent (i.e., no message box saying "xxx is inviting you to a conversation")?


Gorki for one doesn't care for this Big Brother-esque invasion of his privacy.

Because they're mini-GMs and doing so is part of their job and the tools they need for that job. Would you prefer that they just kick you out of the game so the matter can be discussed over email instead?

To expand: GMs deal with the really really important issues, right? Like bannings, account irregularities, whatever? I have no objections to GMs having that ability - but I do object to ISD being able to do that to me.

How is it invading your privacy? If someone walks up to you in the street and goes "Hi, how's it going?" that not an invasion of privacy because you didn't explicitly state that they may enter a discussion with you. You just walk away and/or ignore them. Do the same with the ISDs.
