While the previous thread has since been locked for *obvious RMT* reasons, the discussion at the end of the thread had been going in an interesting direction. Let me start off by saying this, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

While I enjoyed the videos that had been produced before, the people making the original site must have (I hope) been conned by some masterful troll combining the ShoutSale of Billy Mays w/ the "Genius" of Thomas Kinkade in Señor Baddon. As a quick aside, I apologize to the master of slime if you was just innocently trying to help the people who made the original site, but if so, holy crap do you need to change your method of marketing.

Now that I've gotten that off my chest, I'm curious about how people feel about an in game "subs based" video series, and if people are interested in it, what you would pay for it. Personally, I prefer the method that Kovorix and Kil2 use, i.e. allowing people to donate isk to subsidize their cost of making the videos, while advertising a backing sponsor. However, there really aren't all that many reputable eve businesses that are willing to sponsor these things. In fact, you could probably count the number on one hand. This being the case, how much would you be willing to fork over for the videos/media and what kind of videos/media would you be willing to spend isk on?

Would you be willing to pay 200M isk/mo for the kinds of awesome instructional vids that Kovorix/Kil2 are putting out?

Would you rather pay 50 Mil PPV for the pure entertainment videos such as the Garmonation series and Prom's videos?

Do you feel that people are trying to monetize this too much and should just put out the vids for free cause this is freaking internetspaceships and is really not all that srsofbsns?

These are such absurdly uncharted waters in (as far as I can tell) the history of gaming. The only other game that I know of that could support a rational discussion of this subject would be SC2, and specifically the "pro tutoring" and more specifically, the Day9Daily.

How do you guys feel about the subject and which direction do you feel the community should go from here?


P.S. I've deliberately avoided talking about CCP Guard's comments to close the previous thread. They are extremely interesting in their own right and really deserve a separate post. I'm not going to touch on them in this thread, however, and I would appreciate it if you would as well.

kil2 and kov is all people need to know, those two guys are genuine. Do it properly like them or GTFO.
