Can rifter win this fight? What would be a decent fit?

If the Rifter can get the Slicer scrammed and webbed while using 200mm ACs, maybe. I don't think it has a prayer in a kiting matchup though.

I was thinking I could tie it down with a overheated scrambler.

From personal experience, I have gotten scrammed and webbed by rifters in a slicer due to mistakes + stupidity in the past.

However, I always came out alive with something like 50% hull hp when I just changed the ammo to multifrequency and overloaded.

I don't know if it was just luck or nano fit slicers are supposed to brawl rifters and win, but I am going to guess its going to be pretty hard to kill a slicer in a rifter.

Jaguars on the other hand.....

god I hate jaguars.

I figured they might be a little hardier then they appear.

Rifters are going to have ~3.5-4K ehp. Slicers will have a bit under 3 if not DCU tanked (most are not).

At kiting range, a slicer will be doing about a rifter's DPS. At close range it will be doing roughly 50% more than that.

If the rifter gets a scram very early in the fight (without losing a significant portion of its EHP to lasers) it'll probably win. It'll also win if it can scram/web the slicer and then orbit it close, as lasers don't track too well.

Caveat. I'm theorycrafting here.

But I did wonder the same thing as you and came up with this fit a while back. It's not been tested so don't blame me!

Rocket Launcher II, Caldari Navy Inferno Rocket

Small Auxiliary Thrusters I
Small Auxiliary Thrusters I
Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I

The reason I'm even daring to put such theorycraft up is the fact that I have lost a few Slicer's in my time.
Quite often it was when I was tracking disrupted and got cocky with my range.
They are agile boats and that can give the pilot a false sense of confidence.

Scram them, orbit them, melt them with thermal. TD's will spoil a Slicer's fun anyday

And remember, rifter's are cheap

If you scram and web him, you win.

Use a Firetail, even the playing field a bit more...
Something like this...

[Republic Fleet Firetail, Anti Slicer]
Tracking Enhancer II
Reflective Plating II
200mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I

Stasis Webifier II
Warp Scrambler II
1MN Afterburner II
Tracking Disruptor II, Optimal Range Disruption

200mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S
200mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S
[empty high slot]

[empty rig slot]
[empty rig slot]
[empty rig slot]

Rigs n lows to suit but with those mids he cant kite and will be Scrammed, and webbed, whilst your out manovering him doing full damage Blink

No Worries

Course you can. Rifter is the greatest ship ever. Slicers are scarce at the moment, and those that are out have booster alts etc, at least around my area, but they are beatable if they want to engage.

Faction wins everytime slicer: http://minmatar.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=8908307
Noobfit slicer: http://minmatar.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=9889907

Kiting? http://minmatar.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=7781357

Actually, looking at kills, I don't have as many as I thought in rifters. Problems with slicers is they will often run when someone lands on grid. If they want to play though, you should be confident and remember to pilot manually. If you can't get scram, then leave.

Most Slicers will try to kite you with Scorch. Have you tried fitting up a decent Arty Rifter to match his range? I'd still manually pilot to draw transversal down, but I think it'd be worth a shot.

Against a competent pilot .. shimmer of hope.

Against a FoTM pilot .. enjoy your loot.

Against a brawler Slicer .. Forgeddaboutit! Smile
